So I was browsing the Times about articles from the Fatherland and came across this harrowing story of this poor girl. To say that I am enraged is the least of it. Even if her employer is not guilty of torture, he failed to provide adequate medical treatment.
LAHORE, Pakistan — The death already seemed like a bitter injustice. A maid died after unexplained injuries she got in the house of her rich employer. But one detail in particular has outraged Pakistanis: she was 12.
I have written before that domestic help in pakistan is exposed to abuse of all sorts, underpay, overwork, physical, verbal, sexual abuse. and people always talk about how well their families treat the servants, which I dont disagree with. However there is just no real protection in the system for domestic help so these workers are targets if an employer wants to abuse them.
maybe it is asking a lot for a country where established laws for the masses are not adhered to or can be bought, but one can hope.

X2, agreed, but there is a distinct difference between an abuse of an adult versus a child 12 years old. If torture is indeed involved in this sad situation, then this so called lawyer should be shot by firing squad.
It might asking a lot from the country, but no excuse for people like you and I to stay silent. I'll be contacting an NGO in Pakistan that I trust, to at least do something to help the family directly. No matter what happened a girl that should be playing and learning is dead due to work, she did not deserve this nor do countless others.
