What is the etiology of the use of “Brother” to refer to other Muslims? I’ve noted this on campus amongst active MSA members, I’ve noticed this on talkboards and elsewhere.
To my mind, it smacks heavily of imitating Christians with their brothers and fathers and sisters etc.. and it gets a bit overmuch ..
Yes, I understand that you think of me as a brother, but I wouldnt refer to my brother as brother aslam (name hypothetical) for the rest of his life without risking a punch in the nose.
