I think it is to see which front door you get the key to, Joel’s house across the road or Fred’s on the other side of town … It’s just that their wives are not always expecting their own husbands to be opening those front doors.

Because of preference for boys in India, Pakistan and China, ratio of boys to girls is very skewed. This arrangement would make perfect sense as there would be few girls to marry.

There would be social catastrophe if boys dont find girls to marry.
