Stuupid. Who made the guy visit Iraq. He did not visit because of the PMs suppport. He visited because there was a war. He made the choice to travel to iraq. Not the PMR. Regardless of wether or not the spanish PM supported the war wouldnt affect the guy dying.
The family should instead try to sue the US army - as a soldier shot at them. Atleast they have a case here.
Either way - i doubt anythiing will happen.
i think there is some anger here, towards Aznar, not solely for supporting the war (of course that plays the largest part) - but Aznar’s defence minister, Federico Trillo, had made some statements subsequent to Jose Couso’s death that did not go down well with the Spanish people, including many journalists.
~ ~ ~
"Mr Trillo’s statement that the [Palestine] hotel had been declared a military objective 48 hours before it was attacked and that correspondents should have left was greeted with disbelief. No Spanish correspondent in Baghdad had been warned. Nor, apparently, had the Reuters delegation, which also lost a cameraman and had three other people injured. Another Spanish journalist, El Mundo’s Julio Anguita Parrado, was killed by an Iraqi missile in a separate incident.
““If I was in Baghdad, Mr Minister, I would think that your recommendation that I get out was both shameful and unjust. I would think that it is all too easy to make these sort of comments from your office chair. I would also think that you know nothing about what it is like to live in a city that is being besieged and bombarded. I would also think that you have no respect for my work,” wrote the war photographer Gervasio Sanchez in La Vanguardia. “In Liberia the warring factions considered the hotel where the international press lived to be neutral. The same happened in Somalia and Sierra Leone. I deliberately give examples from truly chaotic wars to show that, however hair-raising they were, there was at least respect for press freedom.””
Sorry if this is not relevant - but found some pictures perhaps related to this issue.

Great idea. Or else get in-bed with the US Army and report what they tell you to report. Who the heck wants to know whats really happening, anyway.

Or get another job if you don't want to risk your life. Suing over being killed in a war is the most foolish thing I have yet to hear.
It wouldn't be foolish if the Americans knew how to fire straight?
They killed more of their own than the enemy did!

I still can’t stop laughing at a brit soldier’s comment, something to the effect of “I didn’t get trained to keep looking back to see if an American was shooting at me” ![]()
