by over protecting for him is bad for his confidence in life later. just speak to him once, tell him good and bad about it. He will listen to you. then leave it to him. but dont go and spy or ask him daily about it. he will get irritated and will listen less the more you stress.
its all part of growing up, sometime over protection make damaging effect on person
