Brother Shafiq Of Canada For Your Kind Attention

Ms. Gul Farkhanda MNA stated during her trip to France as a member of Delegation of Pakistan Parliamentarians her Toshiba Camera was “stolen” at Heathrow airport.

Our Pakistanis particularly those who got education in Pakistan on this poor nation’s expense, went abroad on this Pakistan’s Pakistani green Passports later hated keeping Pakistani Passports and obtained foreign nationalities, so often complain about loss of their baggage when they come to Pakistan on visit and use so many words about Pakistani system at airports, customs, PIA etc. Recently such a Newly Converted Canadian on delay (caused at Canada) in return delivery of parcel termed the whole Pakistani nation “dishonest and thief”. Today, like postal industry, the aviation industry is daily handling a huge volume of personal baggage and loss of baggage, misrouted baggage, left over baggage is an international phenomena and no airline of the world is free from it. Federal Aviation studies or reports published in aviation publications need to be studied to know the height of this problem.

But this lady has complained that her camera was “stolen” and that too from an European airport which in the mentality of our newly converted Pakistanis-to-foreigners are heaven and free from today’s evils in all respects. This is not like misplacement or loss of baggage (personal accompanied baggage put in plane cargo hold all) since a Camera is a hand held item mostly put in hand bags.

Brother Shafiq Khan of Canada needs more serious reading this piece and he would do good if he protests with this lady why she blamed a white nation’s airport.

oh puhleeze.. one incident where we’re not even sure if she forgot it in the loo (i think the thief did her a favor: a Toshiba??? camera!!! :hehe: )

let’s get some stats on the total incidents across these arilines in a year and the trends.. then we’d know how frequent it is everywhere and also if it’s getting under control somewhere or spreading..

I AGREE

Yes, this is an isolated case and one of the routine things in life. One isolated example cannot be the criteria od something.

MIGRATION FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER IS AN OLD PHENOMENON.

In a class of grade 5, a student did something wrong and his classmate remarked him as a, “bad boy". The teacher called the child to her and politely said, "he is not a 'bad boy' but, the action he did was wrong”.

As humans, God created everyone equally innocent, intelligent and free from all transgressions and than it was the atmosphere, company, environment and brought up values that made us good or bad. I believe, no human on this planet is evil unless he is sick and fanatic otherwise, there is always a room in someone’s life of improvement and correction. If we follow the rule of ‘correction’ instead of ‘elimination’, most of the vices would disappear from our planet.

Several months back, when I wrote a complaint about postal department in Pakistan, I never meant that the entire postal department is corrupt and dishonest or every institution in Pakistan falls in the same category and I did not say either that Canada Post, American or European society is comprised of angels.

LET US TALK A BIT ABOUT EXPATRIAT PAKISTANIS AND DUAL NATIONALITY!

If you flip the pages of history or go back to stone age or even further back to millions of year ago, you will find that human migration from one place to another and from one land to another has been a regular feature and natural phenomenon on the planet, on the land and in the oceans. Even today, we come across such news that frozen bodies of hundreds and thousands of years old humans were found in Canada, Antarctica and other parts of the world where scientists discover that those bodies were hundreds of years old. People in the ancient times would travel from one place to another (at that time, there were no boundaries of countries) hunting animals ( in the old age, animal skin was the main source of trade between communities), fur trades, food and shelters. Even fish travel hundreds of miles every year from one water to the other.

With the same token, if you see the history of Moen Jo Daro, Taxila and Arians, you will find that those people came from different parts of the world to South Asia.

Our prophet Muhammad (SAS) also migrated from Mecca to Medina in the search of peace and shelter.

There are various reasons of human migration today from one country to another; business, education, environmental change, finding bread and butter, political reasons, war, life safety etcetera. Even animals and birds migrate from one continent to another in the search of water and food. You will find ducks of Australia and Russia in the lakes of Sanghar, Thatta and Nawabshah in Pakistan.

As human mind developed and people started living under boundaries of countries, they marked day and night in 24 hours, 7 days of the week and 12 months of the year to discipline themselves; same way, countries designed rules of visa, passport and immigration for various kinds of visitors to visit their countries to differentiate various statuses.

Immigration or Dual Nationality are not something JINN or BHOOT (giants & ghosts) but those are the rules countries have designed to execute certain benefits to the people who enter from one country to the other, just to facilitate them in case they stay there for certain period of time.

If you read Quran, God says addressing human beings, “I have created lands, oceans, mountains, Sun and Moon for you, go and explore them” . There is no mention in Quran of Pakistan, America, Japan, Columbia, Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh. It is you and me, who demarcated frontiers of these countries for the political and social reasons. The same way as we live in cities, towns Mohallas and our own built houses. Then these houses are further divided into rooms to accommodate the habitants of the families. Being Pakistani, Muslims and as a family why don't we just live in open areas without frontiers as this is our own country?

Whatever, I explained above, are just various ways to self-discipline us on individual, group, collective and country basis. So nothing is wrong in dual nationality, visiting or living other than Pakistan.

There are people from Sindh who work in Punjab and people from Punjab who work in Sindh and thus they cannot see their families for months and sometimes only on Eid Baqraeed. But there are people who work in Dubai and Saudi Arabia and see their families twice in a year. So expatriates are better than our own countrymen!

A brother has raised that only one incident on that airline. Unfortunately it has become our character that comparing the others with Pakistan we can not digest anything which could make Pakistan stand at par let alone an edge.

Losss of baggage, misplacement of baggage, theft of items from the baggage, sending to wrong destinations is an international phenomena which all airlines of the world are facign today. I wonder if this brother would have a time, which I am sure he would not have since it might give a little edge to Pakistan, to read the publications of international aviation.

Re: Brother Shafiq Of Canada For Your Kind Attention

Few months back when I complained about the corruption of Pakistani Post office in Pakistani newspapers and on these pages of Gupshup, some of my brothers and sisters jumped on me and put on guard defending corrupt Pakistani post office staff. I do not want to repeat that bitter tase but want to tell that the gig is still down and Post Office staff continue to embazzle expatriate's packets and mails sent to Pakistan or otherwise.

I have the opportunity to copy a most recent letter from London, published on the News Karachi, Letters to the Editor column:

I quote:

What is wrong with our society

About two months ago, I sent some medicines to my brother in Sialkot, Pakistan via post office. Sadly, those medicines were very urgent and life saving for my brother to take, but after 4 weeks later, I was informed 'the medicines yet to arrive." I immediately made inquiry with British Postal authorities and was told the parcel was forwarded to Pakistan next day. It is now almost 2 months since the medicines were sent.

Everybody in UK having connection with Pakistan have some grievances with Pakistan Postal Authorities. Everybody, whom you talk to about it has his/her own story to tell. Why? What is wrong with our society, don't we have humanity and sympathy for sick and old? It has been widely believed that anything you send to Pakistan, postal worker steals them. If the so stolen goods were not good for them, it is sold in the market. How shameful is this, if it is true.

Re: Brother Shafiq Of Canada For Your Kind Attention

we can not pretend that there is nothing wrong in Pakistan. The blame game of questioning expats loyalties is lame. just because one has a dual nationality does not take away their right to commend or critique. Throwing it in their face that oh you have a foriegn passport so you look down on your country is defeatist talk.

Is it only okay for people who live in pakistan to be able to critique or commend anything that goes on in Pakistan?

and the whole attitude of oh yeah, an eskimo embezzled 2 fish from his igloo business is a tangent and does not take away the fact thattheir are issues in Pakistan that need to be tackled. whether or not those or other issues are present in the same, less or more levels in other countries.
