Broken Promises

***How do you deal with friends who do not live up to their word or keep a promise ? Do you move away and keep to yourself? Do you forgive them ?

What if its a simple promise , maybe even silly one but your friend did not keep it even though they knew it was important to you ? Would you hold it against them?

Would you trust them ever again the same way you did ?***

Re: Broken Promises

I'd first try to find the reason for that...maybe it was some family pressure or not having the ability but they are not in a position to tell you that.

Re: Broken Promises

fire their sorry socks.

Re: Broken Promises

Ab meine kya kiyaaaaa? :crying:

i hope u are not talking about the promise of sending ice creams, cup cakes to U.. :hayaa:

Re: Broken Promises

Hm. Depends on if it's malicious

Re: Broken Promises

Promises cannot always be kept. Children do not always understand that and their hearts break when a promise is broken. We as adults should have the ability to understand that. If this becomes a re-occuring incident and you feel that the friend is taking advantage of your kindness, than the friend should be dropped.

its simple.. they are not as good friend as they are thought to be or they arnt a frend at all ..

never to be trusted again ..unless they can prove otherwise..

and its best that these days .. you gotta do check lists to see if a certain person is compatible to be a friend ..sadly it has come to this.

Re: Broken Promises

Re: Broken Promises

That is for aam humans, not for me

Re: Broken Promises

DTA

don't trust anybody

Re: Broken Promises

Surely first I would feel bad really really bad and feel myself abit worthless but this feeling soon fades away as I don't have a BLIND trust on any of my friends so I don't think that I would bother myself to ask my friend about the reason for which she broke the commitment.

Re: Broken Promises

***Its not something malicious , maybe they had their own reasoning.....yes I did give them another chance , they are still considered a friend but now I just find I can't get myself to trust them like I used to earlier and am not able to believe them when they say anything.

It saddens me that this is someone I consider a very good friend and I can't get myself to trust or believe them like I used to ...... now it feels like everytime they tell me something , i feel like its not entirely the truth .......

I guess I've lost faith in them .....***

:mad2:

Its not true…its not me!

Is this a very old friend? Dont put so much faith in people that it crushes you when they disappoint you sheynie. People are human and completely capable of doing wrong or mistakes. They WILL disappoint you at times and you will disappoint them too. If it wasnt something malicious, then dont think about it too much.

For now, just give yourself time to heal, watch and observe this person and let them earn your trust back.

Re: Broken Promises

I think keeping your words is the greatest strength one could ever have. Not everyone has the strength but we should definitely work towards it.

Personally, I lose trust. Infact, trust can't be built if one of the two friends keep breaking small promises or backing down on their words.

Re: Broken Promises

if you didn't have friends, you wouldn't have this problem

I knew I wasn't missing out on much.
