Brocolli in a desi dish

Can broccoli be cooked desi style?. If yes, how?.

maybe in rice? would you want to eat brocolli with roti?

Yeah why not. how about broccoli ka bhurta or may be broccoli with mutton.

I have never tried broccoli in a desi dish. I am wondering if anyone else has.

Did you post this topic after havnig read my reply to Code_red's thread? I mentioned there that my mother makes saag, she makes it with spinach, broccolli and some other stuff. Its really yummy. If you want I can ask her the recipe. Its so tasty you can eat it on its own with hot roti. My parents are on a health trip, lots of fish and veggies being cooked at home these days.

please, do that.

Instead of an aloo gobi I made an aloo brocolli once..tunred out okie.

And another time I added em in the chicken mughlai...

Only veggie I can't think of mixing in anything is brussel sprouts.

I don't like brocolli myself..but some of my family members do..we make vegetable pulao using it..we make mix subzi of potato, peas, carrots, cauliflower, brocolli..and we do use mix subzi including brocolli with qeema..

and we always tried make mock qeema out of it..you chop brocolli very very short like qeema particles..and use the same masala as you'll use for qeema.

well i tried making brocolli chicken once but it was so :yukh: i had to throw it all away :bummer:

brocolli is best if u just microwave it in a ziploc and have it with some salt

its also good stir fried chinese style

if u r successful in making brocolli desi style do let us know, and the recipe too

GOLIKO - asparagus r those long sticks right? i havent made asparagus in desi dish but if u boil it and have it with crackers n some thick soup like cream of mushroom soup or clam chowder it tastes nice

Haii broccoli my love. Kia dish wish yaar just boil it and chug it down.

amma je adds it to saag not palak the real saag. :p

I dont think brocolli would taste good in a desi dish, our taste buds probably wont be able to accept it :D
Qruis baji's suggestions sounds good though: brocolli in mixed veggies cooked desi style.
Brocolli tastes superb when boiled and drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper. A tad bit of melted cheese also tastes good. I could live on this one, but it aint desi so funguy wouldnt like it much perhaps.

LK: HOw can you eat brussel sprouts?? I tried eating them a couple times but they just dont taste good: taste like wilted mini-lettuce heads :( But Asparagus tastes good when baked a little crisp with a little olive oil and salt and pepper, and oh lemon juice.

I have tried allo brocolli and mutton with brocolli...did not like it. Some how desi style of cooking & spices kill it.

Hmm Goliko..asparagus I've never tried...dont really buy it over here..it'rather expensive.

Ira..brussels sprouts are very healthy...but yeh they taste very veyr yucky

n i was wonderin that does anyone know what do we call brocolli in urdu? :konfused:

I have an excellent recipe actually. If you like a lot of mirchi let me know, I'll post the recipe.
