British soldiers paid less than traffic wardens

Nearly half of UK troops think of quitting | UK | Reuters

Last month, Prime Minister Gordon Brown said the government would do “everything it could” to help members of the armed forces after army chief Richard Dannatt complained that troops were paid less than traffic wardens.

Not so long ago one member here was saying that british soldiers get paid 10 times more than ordinary workers.

Re: British soldiers paid less than traffic wardens

Foot soldiers are always paid very little. The reason is that their "pay" is just one aspect of the "total package".

Anyone remotely connected to military knows that a soldier's total compensation includes housing, medical, transportation, and in many cases food as well.

Young men (and these days women too) who love to be soldiers do so for their dream of becoming a soldier and not for a fat paycheck. Because other professions like traffic wardens, or even worse a drug dealer can make many times more.

So take your pick bro. Looks like soldiering is not your favorite profession.
