Not to long ago I posted an article that sighted that the %age of birth defects results from cousin marriages is only 3-5% higher than non-cousin marriages.

On the flip side, while their is a greater likelihoods of bad genes to be transferred forward, it is even a greater chance that the good genes will pass on the off springs. Thus the overall health of the society as far as genes are concerned.
