Baby steps, they all count (this seems to be a bit more than a baby step though)
BRITAIN’S most wanted man, Abu Qatada, described as Osama bin Laden’s ambassador in Europe, has been seized in an armed raid on his hideout in London.
Home Secretary David Blunkett would say only a suspect had been arrested on Wednesday under the country’s anti-terrorist laws. Security sources yesterday named the suspect as Abu Qatada.
The radical 42-year-old Muslim cleric, whose real name is Sheikh Omar Mahmood Abu Omar, has been accused by police in eight countries of being a pivotal figure in the al-Qa’ida terrorist network.
He was arrested at a South London council house in a joint operation by Scotland Yard Anti-Terrorist Branch detectives and MI5 agents.
