Re: British Family of twelve disappears, thought to be in Syria
Probably more.. the ones we here about on the news are usually the extreme cases (the 3 schoolgirls for example, there was another large family group who failed to get to Syria and were found and sent back from Turkey and now this case)… We also hear about the British citizens when they happen to be killed over there.. Numbers were mentioned on how many were stopped either from travelling or on returning back to the UK.. I flew from Heathrow to Istanbul a while bk and there was an armed guard and a couple of extra officials at the boarding gate, I’d never seen that before..

Why would he do anything that would reduce the perceived risk of Islamic fundamentalism in Europe? The threat keeps giving the government greater control over lives of people.
Also, his friends at halliburton and BP might get upset.
Re: British Family of twelve disappears, thought to be in Syria
^Greater sense of isolation, less integration, more social issues in the UK maybe? I’ve often thought Muslims here (esp our generation) are less happy with their lives.. I mean if you were satisfied and content you probably wouldn’t be drawn to all that in the first place..

Our religion teaches us to be moderate in all aspect. And we all know it. Talking from personal experience with people like that. So does it mean..wrong interpretation of religion?.
Re: British Family of twelve disappears, thought to be in Syria
Or the Brits, Asian Brits included, have to figure out whats wrong with the Muslims in the country that they would do such irrational things.
You dont see this sort of thing in the US or Canada. At least not to this extent. There seems to be something off among the Muslim communties in the UK and Europe as a whole.
Perhaps its due to the larger concentrations of Muslim communities living for whatever reason, isolated from the wider British community.
In the US we dont generally have such large concentrated populations and are generally more dispersed among other minority groups and White. Dearborn is the possible exception, but they are mostly Shia.
Re: British Family of twelve disappears, thought to be in Syria
The biggest problem with Brit-Pakistanis is that they don’t contribute enough to the British society. We don’t even encourage those who actually try to contribute…like that politician Sayeeda Warsi…she gets treated like dirt by these so called religious muslims.
But regardless of this, for our government first thing that needs to be done is to hold the media responsible for spreading racial and religious hatred. Otherwise, I don’t see any good coming out of this so-called multicultural society.
Re: British Family of twelve disappears, thought to be in Syria
Perhaps the biggest favor a Muslim could do for his or her child then is to take them out of the Muslim majority areas and into a more diverse environment. But Muslims are so terrified of having their kids being “corrupted” they wouldnt think of it.
I recall a family acquaintance of ours who never allowed her daughter to go to University and married her of right after high school for fear she might find a boy friend if they waited to long… Its that sort of mentality.

The 15 year-old son of one of the women acted as mehram (I know groups of women are able to get Hajj visas without a family mehram but might need to use an agency, can’t remember the exact details)..
They saved up their government benefits to fund the trip as well.. how ironic.. hope they’re stopped from taking any more advantage..
