If we do that then some people are going to scream discrimination, saying “how could they do such an inhuman thing, sending food that they themselves dont want to consume.” And if even one nigerian gets sick from consuimg this food , the blame will be laid squarely on US shoulders.

Shipping good and foods costs money. Such ventures become even more cost prohibitive in disaster struck areas.

It sounds stupid for anyone to ship rations to the US ... don't we have an excess of it several times over? Sometimes well meaning gestures become pain in the b for peopel trying to coordinate things.
Remember, every truck that went to NOLA had to carry things they absolutely needed at that point in time and not whatever was available. They don't have warehouses.
I am sick of peabrains taking pot shots at everything about US without thinking. If you don't like us so much, why don't you stop taking and asking for money from us everyother day? You want our money, our markets for washcloth, our canons and planes and million other things including turning a blind eye on atrocities but keep taking pot shots at us!

as much as you hate people who criticize US but US needs very same people for its economy/life. Imagine no body buy US goods or selling to US, can you really imagine that? 
BTW, Europe doesn’t ask US for money esp countries like UK

Seems to me the UK was exhausted, broke and the rest of Europe was destroyed after WWII. Seems to me that in their time of need our men fought and died for them, we supplied war materiel and financing.

do you think the author of this statement "food fit for British and US soldiers not good enough for starving New Orleans..." is European? BTW if European said that then my comments apply to them too.
And if you think Europe is not dependent upon the US, wait till the next 'ism' expansion design (we've seen nazism, fascism, communism to date - in all 3 cases US had to save the Eurobutt)

US pushes every country to be crazy, oh I meant cracy, I mean democracy or was it democrappy? anyway, that was a war of designs. Do you think US does not need Europe? It goes both aways, sideways, all-ways… almost every country is needed by some other country, perhaps even Swaziland is needed by some

Yes Ravage, some reporter in New York claims food is being burned in Arkansas, who quotes absolutely any named authority or source, and you guys swallow the story as if it is the gospel truth.
If the food stuff actually is burned, of course I would first see what the explaination was, but the only quote you have from US authorities says that they APPROVED the first shipment of vegitarian rations. Until I hear an explaination, I will reserve judgement. Even this schlok reporter does not give a rational REASON why the food would be burned. If the food is out of date or spoiled, it would be perfectly rational to burn it instead of risking an ourbreak of disease or something in a group of stressed evacuees.
On the other hand, even fresh British cuisine can cause gastric distress....
