Over the past few months, I was hooked onto this very witty site called stylestripped.com. It had very interesting posts on Pakistani fashion scene with a category called “A Little Too inspired”. Things got political and ugly when they exposed Sara Sohaib Taseer as having plagarized an Indian Designer’s designs. Anyways Stylestripped has shut down now probably coz the Taseers threatened the owners of the site. I am just so pissed right now. Why are our people so lame? BRING BACK STYLESTRIPPED!!!
btw Sara taseer’s version of the story makes her sound like a schizophreniac i-e everyone is conspiring against me, ppl are hacking into my account and putting up sketches of Indian designers and signing my name at the botton so my sales go down… (lame i know!!!)
haiiiii yaar tum nay kia yaad kara deea. I loved that site too:(( They used to spot bags and shoes. Its was amazing how they could look at even a non monochrome bag and tell you not just the brand but also the collection and the price. The "A Little too inspired" section was AWESOME. They exposed so many plagarizations. The one that hit me real hard was Kamiar Rokni's Label design. btw, although the site has been taken down, everything is still available on cache. can someone tell me how to post pix?? I will upload teh cache images of the plagirizations.
I know who use to do the website, she was my internet friend before starting this site, she was very hurt about how people starting barking against it, and she was doing this for the sake of fashion in pakistan and she feels that now this country is not worth taking such huge risks!
and these political people, sara taseer people they are proper gundas! someone froma good family wouldnt wanna waste time n energy on them!
well the owners of the site were anonymous for a long time so could get away with a lot based on that anonymity. but after the site exposed sara taseer, sara let her goons investigate and exposed the owners, who are well known in the fashion circle and owners of a boutique in khi (i guess thats why they had so much insider info)
i am guessing now that the cat is outta the bag, they will not be able to do all these stories and exposes and get away with it, now they will have to be politically correct. what a loss.
That was SUCH a good site, its such a shame its gone :-( It was literally the only Pakistani fashion site that I liked/followed... Cant they start up again under a new name?! They cant give in to "sara taseer" who will be yesterdays news when "daddy" is out of power one day!
I totally agree...Sara Taseer Shoaib comes off as such a beast whenever she talks about this. I wish someone would tell her she is NOT all that, she makes it sound like everyone is jealous of her and how great her work is. I really dont think I would know who the heck she was if it wasnt for her family's influence.
And the website was amazing, I dont think they were just making stuff up in their section 'a little too inspired'...there was definitely very real plagiarizing going on in the big leagues.
i loved that website, it always bought a smile to my face. Its about time these "sham" designers were exposed for the frauds they really are. Its such a shame this cant take place without people being threatened and websites being shut down.
i think we're really lucky here in the West where the internet is regularly used to expose shams and shoddy behaviour.
I hope the stylestripped gang set up another website soon. Good luck to them.
ditto ... it was an amazing blog...educational;, entertaining and witty. obviously someone who loved Pakistani fashion was running it. Such a shame! that Pakistani so called "designer establishment" can't take criticism...
agrfee with all of you! and its so amazing to see that people actually care about the right thing! i hope they start soon too! i have emailed them a couple of times and plan of writting on the group wall too.. may be all of you should do the same? may be itll make a difference they need to know they have supporters i guess...?
ahhh waiting for it to start :( A NEW name is a good idea, and i dont mind even if they dont have these sick socialists which have issues!!! everything else was amazing too
