Brigadier Mansoor-ul-Haq Malik passes away

He was the husband of my Phuppo and passed away in London 2 weeks ago. It was a great shock for all of us. My parents went to London to attend his funeral.

ISLAMABAD: Brigadier (r) Mansoor-ul-Haq Malik of Signal Corps and former director general T&T Department (now PTCL) and Managing Director, OPF, expired in a London hospital Wednesday, says a press release.
He was on his way to USA when he suddenly felt unwell at London Airport and was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

He rendered meritorious services in various assignments in the army including command of a brigade. His services as chief executive of the T&T department will be long remembered as he laid solid foundation of achieving efficiency and expansion of the department.

He touched the lives of an unending number of people in so many ways by caring, sharing and giving. He will be missed, admired and long remembered as he was a rare selfless, hard-working upright, honest, efficient and outstanding officer who enjoyed excellent relations with all his supervisors, colleagues and subordinates. He had excellent relations with trade unions as he would go out of his way to look after their welfare.

His family is working for expeditious finalisation of procedures in London of bringing his body for burial.

He was the brother of Commodore Ikram-ul-Haq Malik, late Brig Zahoorul Haq Malik, Col Manzurul Haq Malik, Admiral Yasturul Haq Malik and Safura Zafar.

No umer, i havent read that book, was he taken prisoner in a war? when? This is very interesting, do you have any idea where this book could be found? i wonder if its in print now as i havent seen it or else i would have read it already. Pls do let me know. Thnx :k:

I guess it is brigadier Mansoor-ul-Haq, not Admiral Mansoor-ul-Haq.

Some diaries of old army officers and bureaucrats were published in the monthly magazine, "Urdu Digest" for quite some years. I am not sure if the one under discussion could be found there too.

I have a copy of the book at home, but I got that from Mansoor Uncle himself. When I get back home I’ll look at the cover and tell you about the publisher, etc.

Umer, was he ever posted at the Military College of Signals a few years ago?

Sad news indeed, but mashallah a very nice military career to be proud of.
