I have been jotting down points and this is what I have compiled until now:
- long burning tealights
*babysitters (or any sort of kid-occupying measure but in front of moms).
*have seasonal flowers (like submerged Bougainvillearoses/roses)
*Varying the heights of the vases
*silver matkas with water, floating petals and floating candles with rose petals all around and more candles in votive holders.
*dressy linens will come from the hall.
*plan to alternate a few glass top tables with the regular ones or as you said a mix of round and square tables for visual interest.
What’s left: Just have to direct the planners what to do and I am all set.
Ladies, SGC’s wedding was tasteful and enjoyable and I am still in awe! Lovely!
I would love more DIY ideas regarding anything you might have done/heard, if not in a desi wedding then a gora wedding, just anything.
*BTW, most of the gora invitations I have seen are DIY like they buy colorful paper and make pocketfolds and match the inserts/programs/RSVPs/Thank You cards and print them out via a laser printer or may be letter press. Like this one:

I have this card idea in mind but I don’t think that I’ll be able to make it by myself as I don’t have a letter press (Also, I don’t know where I can buy the art supplies or the letter press in Karachi). I do have a few changes in mind, though like changing the colour of the inserts or changing athe whole combo acc to the bride’s dress.

On the topic of babysitters: At my wedding, all the children loved me as I was perhaps the only dulhan in my family's history to shake hands with each child who came up to me (I must have looked like santa claus for them). It has been six years now and those children are a bit older and still remember me. LOL!
It is weird that I didn't mind them at my wedding but am looking for ways to occupy them at other weddings.
you know, i bought all my vases from a wholesale supplier. they were $3 for the smaller ones and $5 for the larger ones. my orchids only cost me about $5 for each large bloom (i had 2 per table) and $3 for a stem of the smaller ones (i had 3 stems in the long vase). the lily grass was so cheap, it was under a $1 per leaf. the pieces of white marble in the base we picked up from home depot for dirt cheap. the florist assembled everything and set it up at the venue.
it was very reasonable so i was able to have what i wanted, i.e. 3 centrepieces per table and alternated white candles in white candle holders between each vase. the candles/candle holders i picked up from the wholesaler too- they were long burning tealights- went for 8 hours with no need to relight them!
as for the jars, you can always give them away to your guests- play a game like taping a coin to the bottom of one of the chairs at each table. at the end of the night, have people turn over their chairs to see which one has the coin- the one that does, wins the centrepieces. the vases are really contemporary and the ones i gave out i've seen in my own house and friends/families houses still being used.
as for children, i hired two babysitters from craigslist to take care of the little munchkins at my wedding- there were 7 of them, all under 10. i really didn't want to deal with screaming kids during my speeches, or cake-finger-poking, etc. the sitters were awesome, only too $150 for the full evening, and kept the kids so well entertained that we sort of forgot they were there! hahaha plus all my aunts/uncles had a super time cos they weren't running around after their brats.
is the wedding in karachi or US?
SGC that was such an awesome idea I wish I had done that at my wedding there were so many little kids running around, yelling during speeches, and knocking down my decorations :-(

^ yeah, but you still looked pretty and you married the love of your life, right? so no worries! 
mahi, letterpressing isn’t something you can do at home- its a hand done process and the machine is huge for it. it was a dying print form until it got recently revived so theres actually only a few people with the original letterpress machines and the skill set to operate them. this is also why its so expensive.
have you seen these sites? they offer cards similar to yours and they’re so cheap to have printed as you want - perhaps consider these?

if not, i’m sure there is a thread around here somewhere on invites where people have said where they got their cards printed from in pakistan. i’m sure you’ll be able to find printers who can do what you want, or can at least tell you where to buy supplies from if you want to do it yourself.
