Aah now I see what the situation is. Thanks for that Psyah I always knew about the Armeinian genocide becuase that is well documented and took place in the hinterland closer to Modern Turkey wereas most Assyrian people are as you mentioned Native to the lands around modern Iraq and while the Turkish Ottoman empire did stretch that far I never came across any massacres in mesopotamia mentioned anyweher hence my initial skeptisim.

It all makes a lot more sense now.

However, I just spoke to my Assyrian colleague and to my surprise he has confirmed the genocide as actual … He says they call it Sayfo
