Brides without mehndi?

In the bridal thread I have been noticing a lot of pictures of the brides without mehndi on their hands  is that a new tend now?
Fine if bride is not wearing a lot of heavy jewelry or typical lehngas or ghararas, but still I am having difficulty understanding a bride with complete bare hands and not even s small design of mehndi anywhere.
Only reason I can think of is that if they are allergic to it or hate the smell.
Why else anyone would do that ???

Re: Brides without mehndi?

maybe their future husbands have stated they don't like mehndi?

Re: Brides without mehndi?

There are a lot of reasons brides decide not to wear mehndi. They dont like the look or smell, their husband doesnt like the look or smell. they have to go back to work after the wedding and it is not allowed. There has been a recent death in the family - sign of respect. Allergies, they cant find anyone to apply it. The wedding function is done a long time after the nikkah so they dont want to wear it....etc

i hate the smell!!!

Re: Brides without mehndi?

or if the wedding function isnt till like a week. Not enough time to get rid of it, and it wont go away in that much time. Better to keep bare hands. Also like others said, some just dont like it, or possible no good mehndi artist near them.

Re: Brides without mehndi?

Some are going to beach destinations for their honeymoon - some just don't want to look funny in swimsuits and tons of mehndi

Re: Brides without mehndi?

There are many reasons. One as mentioned above could be simply because their husbands dont like it. Another reason that I personally dont put on mehndi is because of my job. It does not look nice working in a professional environment with henna on your hands.

Also I think the new generation of brides are starting to become more western in the bridal wear that they choose to wear on their big day. Henna would ruin the look of some of these bridal suits.
