I mean no offense to anyone. I know someone who is getting married and she is overweight(very overweight) and her body is ‘pear’ shaped so wanted to know what type of bridal dress would suit her. Should she go for lehnga or long kameez with culottes? Does color make any difference? Pics would help too. Thanks!
Re: Brides that are Heavier
gharara
Re: Brides that are Heavier
Sahar, I thought about it but she has a heavy lower body so I'm not sure if it's going to suit her or not. :s
Re: Brides that are Heavier
Wear a long shirt with vertical kaam. Vertical lines always makes one look sleeker.
Wear a gharara/lehnga as per choice but don't make it too heavy. Use materials that don't take too much space like chiffon.
Make sure the dupatta is lavish and has heavier kaam on it. The focus then stays on the face carrying the beautiful dupatta.
There's no need for a matha patti or a jhoomar. Just a tikka would do.
Re: Brides that are Heavier
a long kameez and a dhaka pant! thats what we got for our bro's wife, she is a bit heavy but not a lot, I tried her suit and as I am also a bit heavy it looked perfect on me.
ps. just read the post before me.. her kameez had vertical lines.. it was a shimmer chiffon kind of kameez that were in vertical lines.
Re: Brides that are Heavier
CA, I just feel that because the style is already about volume in the bottom half, it will mask her heaviness.
Re: Brides that are Heavier
If she's 'bottom heavy' a gharara would make her look heavier.. a tapered 'lehnga' would be a better choice. A lighter kameez with vertical 'kaam' and small 'bootis' and a darker colored bottom would make her look less 'bottom heavy' and suit a pear-shaped figure. The bottom should have minimum work and more work on the kameez/dupatta..
Re: Brides that are Heavier
There was a thread on this a while ago.. Can't remember the exact wording of the title tho..
If you do a search it should come up.. There were quite a few pics and suggestions in there..
Re: Brides that are Heavier
Yeah, the bottom, dhaka pants did not have any work at all, the kameez had kaam on the Gala and damaan + a heave dupatta.
This elan suit what proto made for us. God bless her. ![]()
Re: Brides that are Heavier
Thank you all for the tips. I think we'll go for a darker color on bottom to make it look lighter. I'm still not sure about the style of clothing as Ihave only seen her once last year so I may be wrong about her body shape. But your tips will be helpful. Thanks again!!
Re: Brides that are Heavier
That’s a beautiful dress…I’m sure it must be really expensive!!
Re: Brides that are Heavier
when contrasting..use light color shirt as well.. vertical kaam+light color+thinner fabric give synergistic effect of being thin.shirt should be veryyyy long and dark+heavier dopatta. n dopatta should be worn in such a way that it covers bride's front more or less.

Not really ... Protos prices are reasonable, she can make it as heavy as you like or make a lighter version.
