Brides on a Budget

So with everything these days, it seems that there is no limit whatsoever on anything! You can always go fancier, prettier, and more expensive on anything from the outfit to the centerpieces to the makeup artist you choose.

My question: How did you girls balance out your wedding?
And also: I can’t believe how expensive just the outfits themselves are one day. I mean for those that can afford it, mashaAllah that is awesome and may Allah give them more barakah in their money. But WHERE do you even begin searching for bridal outfits on a budget? And im taking of Karachi or Lahore areas specifically. I have heard of Rhim Jhim and Jabeens ( I think thats what it is called) But does that mean you get a huge compromise on the quality of the fabric as well?

Re: Brides on a Budget

You can always go bigger and better with everything when it comes to a wedding but...

Prioritize.
Create a budget and stick with it.
Figure out how many people you're having at the wedding - that will dictate a lot of where you can spend money.

You can have a great outfit without compromising on quality - There is Ayesha from kaprey shaprey and a bunch of others on GS that will make an outfit of your dreams. If you want designer, be prepared to pay designer fees - its that simple.

I chose to have less people but a nicer venue and invested more in a better photographer and invitations.

It all depends on things you value the most.

If you want everything done within a specific budget, it can be done but you have to prepare yourself to compromise :)

Thats just for starters - hope that helps.

^ Agreed. Prioritize and stick to your budget!
I made a budget for myself and checked in on that budget constantly. I set an overall budget and a budget for each major cost - dress, venue, photographer, videographer, decor, etc. I tried to keep as close to my budget for each as possible. If I went over on one area, I compensated by trying to go under in another area. Surprisingly, I was under budget for most of my major purchases!

There is no limit to how much someone can spend on a wedding - there is always something bigger, better or prettier. Keep reminding yourself of your budget and it will help you stay around the amount you are comfortable spending. Remember, the wedding industry is huge and the options are endless - you have to be strong enough to know your own budget limits

I wrote a detailed post on planning on a budget, you can use that for ideas. Also, I’m not sure what your budget is for your dress, but I bought mine from Mohsin (mehendi) and PLK (shaadi and valima) - you can check them out on my blog too. They were VERY reasonably priced! I bought it 1.5 years ago (ahhh sounds so far away!). I didn’t think the quality or work was compromised in the slightest… I loved everything about the clothes!

As mizzm said, prioritize. Make a list of things that you absolutely MUST have, figure out your overall and individual budget and work from there

(BUMP) Anybody here on GS forums you'd recommend? I need about 10+ outfits for myself and others in my family.
