Why does all desi brides look so fair/white in wedding pictures? Like almost in all wedding pictures bride is looking fairer than she really is! Do they use some makeup or just lightning to make skin tone fairer/whiter and why? Is it common?
I have never been in Pakistani wedding or seen preparations so I dont really know! I just noticed that and Im curious to know.
It's usually the make-up (foundation to be precise) and bright lights. Some even use foundation on their arms so that it matches with the face. It's just the association of fair skin tone with looking beautiful - which is absolutely ridiculous.

Okay, thanks! :D They must wear a lot foundation then! I think that's just ridiculous... at least I wont let anyone to put on me that much foundation, I want to look myself in wedding pictures!
Yep. It’s generally the foundation with brides. I know 1 bride who got her face, neck, AND arms all airbrushed about 3 shades lighter than her natural skin color!
But I will say that I do think a lot of it the lighting. I’ve seen pics of myself from weddings where I look lighter…and the only thing that explains that is the lighting (b/c I know my foundation isn’t several shades lighter than me!).
These days, a lot of makeup artists are using foundation shades closest to bride's skintone but it seems like photographers aren't convinced yet that a bride with darker skintone still looks stunning so they use lighting and special photoshoping skills to make them look even more fairer!
and it's just not the brides...the salons there do actually use base which is much lighter on almost everyone...my aunt got ready from a salon back home on her son's wedding and she looked like a ghost...and my uncle did not hide his displeasure lol
