I had a flower bed on the wedding and it wasnt cuz i wanted one. the hotel i was living at in khi, the staff and my mom wanted to do this grand thing. ill post a pic of it when ive scanned it. it was beautiful but its a shame that we were there only for 4 hours.
sumorani, ^ sounds nice, yea would like to see the pic.... actually the smell of the whole flower thing is so nice and to me so romantic. don't you guys think its romantic, because its ur wedding night and should different from anyother night. what say gals?
^yep usually the friends do but my inlaws did that, they had that flower canopy, smells great but very annoying if you have to step in and out of it for almost a week, I wanted to get rid of them asap :$ for those who get the flowers on the bed, please remove them before you sit..rose petals have the worst stain ever, you just can't do anything for it!!!The first day, my sister removed them and even if she hadnt I won't have noticed because my lehnga was red but the second day my sister in law spread rose petals AGAIN and I sat on them by accident after the valima function when I was wearing light pink outfit.. the petals stained it awfully reddish yellow..the outfit is ruined! :(
and here is a funny thing..there was this sticker on the wall that said "WELL COME".. the very first thing that I said to my hubby after marriage was "Welcome" is spelled wrong :D
i happen to love those flower canopies/beds etc they make…i have always seen them being made in my family ever since i was young(mamoons’s shadi etc etc)…and at my own wedding too i had one made of beautiful red roses…and loads and loads of 'em…
GTG is right…they leave the worse stains…my bed linens were off whitish and they were ruined for life…
and although they look lovely and smell heavenly they make a great mess…but we got rid of all in 2 days, once they started to dry out…
even today smell of fresh roses bring back so many memories…
I think people in Pakistan have moved away from it, but those of us abroad sometimes like these traditional elements because we don't see them every day.
Im one of those girls who want to have a simple wedding...no guests show offs or anything...I want to have my rukhsati from my parents house where i spent all my life with only family members n close relatives...the only thing I want on my shadi is that flower bed...i love roses spread on bed!!...and maybe some soft music playin in the background and dim lights...:)
Well, I had one and it was lovely. Actually hubby didn't want it but his mom and brother insisted and that is how I got one. I always wanted one and got it with fat candles, too. To tell you the truth, we created the look again for our first anniversary and enjoyed it immensely.
The rose petals do stain and dear hubs now has a ruined sherwani but he still has it as he is too sentimental to give it up.

LOL, my husband partially recreated the flower decoration look on our anniversary. He sprinkled rose petals all over the room and floor, lit scented candles everywhere, placed cake, chocolates and roses on table tops, and put my presents on the bed. It was a nice surprise when i walked into the bedroom.
