Bridal Saree with dupatta or without it?

Hello ladies,

I was wondering as to whether it would be a good idea to wear a dupatta with the bridal saree on the wedding day. I have seen pictures of Indian brides wearing a dupatta with the bridal saree, but havent seen any bride in Pakistan wearing a duapatta with the saree.

I think it would give a slimming effect to the chubby bride as the palloo of the saree will be worn on the shoulder instead of on the head, and the dupatta is worn on the head with one side falling vertically in the front and the other on the back i-e, on the side of the saree’s palloo.

What do you think about this style. Need suggestions pls.

Thanks,

Nats

Pls ladies, i am waiting for ur suggestions :)

Re: Bridal Saree with dupatta or without it?

i think it will look better to have abother kaam wala dopatta on your head :).. as i have seen many ismaili brides in karachi. some just place pallu on head.. n it doesnt give them bridal look at all. while my mother told me that in old times.. brides used to wear saree with a gottay wala dopatta. you may wear matching or contrasting dopatta with your saree :D

Re: Bridal Saree with dupatta or without it?

Yes I think a seperate dupatta. That way you can drape the pallu better without worrying about if it needs to cover your head.

Re: Bridal Saree with dupatta or without it?

The Indian and Bengali women I know who have worn saris for their wedding.....all of them got a separate matching dupatta. So the pallu was draped the "traditional" way while the dupatta was on the head. Personally I think it looks really nice if the person doing it knows how to drape everything properly.

Re: Bridal Saree with dupatta or without it?

I don't think I've ever seen a real-life bride wear a saree without a dupatta on her big day..

Re: Bridal Saree with dupatta or without it?

I have yet to see a Pakistani bride wearing saarri on her big day :bummer:

Re: Bridal Saree with dupatta or without it?

Someone else on here mentioned it the other day..

Re: Bridal Saree with dupatta or without it?

I've never seen it among Muslim brides...but its common among South Indians hindus.

Thanks a lot to all of you for your advices :)

I would definitely go for a dupatta with the saree.
