Re: Mother of all wedding bags...

Am not that rich compared to the real elite class.... lol... perhaps neither are you lovely folks!

Anyway, you all raise interesting points regarding the price but at the same time, none of you said the bags were crap... I suppose one has to consider - these bags are to keep forever! Think of it as an investment - the price of everything 'good' continues to rise - Gucci bags, diamoands, gold, designer jorrahs, jeans, electricity, petrol etc. AR bags are made overseas, using Austrian crystals & other imported parts. The bags themselves are now priced in USD - with the PKR is falling, it makes for everything abroad expensive. What used to be USD100 is only now USD 110 but because of the Rupee devaulation, the item went up, instead of 10%, from Rp6000 -> Rp8000! I'm glad I bought early!!

So the question is, how much is the right price? Even ziggy said the stuff was great but didn't say 'they were NOT worth the price.'

I guess I don't need 100 bags. I'd rather acquire a few top-of-the-line items that would make a statement and has some shelf-life rather than a few cheap throwaways. I met with other buyers at the different exhibitions (Lahore & Karachi) who shared their reasons - they all helped me make my decision to plonker down the cash... By the way, there is a wide range of bags and I bought from from very cheap to a little pricey (Rp6,000 to 35,000). Thought I'd share them with you...

  • I want a collection like my mother-in-law. She's got a fabulous range accumulated over many years. Her advice is buy a GREAT bag that NEVER goes out of style and keep using it!
  • I'd rather buy a good bag I can reuse over many years than one expensive jorah that I can use a few times before it goes out of fashion.
  • We are 5 sisters & 15 (female) cousins - we share everything!
  • I'm getting a jewellery bag for my daughter who's getting married in a few months and cut-down on the cost of her main jorah. She'll have something from her wedding she can reuse!
  • Getting an excellent bag that can go with Pakistani & Western events is an investment (girl from New York)
  • The prices of these bags are much cheaper than in Dubai and New York. Why should I buy there when I can pay in Rupees locally and only have to lug it home in my car (jet set socialite)
  • When I buy Annika, I know it's either a step ahead of the upcoming fashion and I get the best possible design (super elite) .... etc.

So my question is, how much do you think is expensive? And do you really think you're in her targetted audience?

If you haven't been, you have to go, if only to see!
