has any one used allenora on there wedding day if yes then please tell me ur experience with them
thnx
did any of you ladies (silsila, pakifairy, shay, SGC, etc) get airbrushed makeup for your wedding/reception? would you recommend it? any pros/cons?
two of my pakistani friends who recently got married in California had desi MUA airbrush their foundation and claim its worth the added extra cost because the makeup doesn't budge and doesn't need to be touched up or reapplied. the other friends have gone with artists who use MAC and such and again were very satisfied and happy with their results.
I have some spots and blemishes, so I'm not sure if airbrushing would help cover and conceal any imperfections or if i should go with the the MAC route. any advise or suggestions??
also, how much is reasonable to pay for a good MUA? the prices I've been quoted range from $50 (getting your makeup done at the mall counter) to $800 (for airbrushing by a MUA at your location).
Airbrushed makeup looks really fake in real, but turn-out great in pics. For airbrush makeup u really shud have flawless skin to begin with. And since u said u have blemishes, u shud use heavy-coverage... foundation sticks and a high-pigment concealer wud be u're best option!
Re: Bridal Makeup
Salaam everyone
I am a new user and have been reading the forum for over a year. I will be going Pakistan in March 2009 inshallah to get married... I am trying to get some information as I have no idea what Pakistan has to offer. I need to know if beauticians are willing to travel to remote areas. I would also appreciate if you can tell me if they charge more for this service. Can you recommend any good photographer and I movie maker from Rawalpindi.
Your help would be most appreciated and thank you in advance!!!!
Kind regards
Sobia

Hi everyone, didn’t know where else to post this so I’ll do it here. It was my friend’s wedding last week. I went for a minty green eye-makeup look.
I rarely wear such bright colours but I was in the mood to experiment.

My cuzins wife jus got back from pakistan, her SIL got her makeup done by allenora in lahore...she said it wasnt great cuz the owner lady didnt do it...so i guess it really depends who does it for u!
I think it looks quite pretty on you.

That's strange Gina, because every thing I've heard about airbrush makeup has concluded that airbrush makeup is *ideal *for blemishes and acne prone skin. I know you have a background in beauty and skin care, so I'm curious to hear your opinions on airbrush.
Somhow, airbrush makeup is a really fine "mist" of diluted foundation and therefore doesn't have a lot of pigment that's needed to cover-up blemishes and marks. The regular bridal makeup that requires a heavy/pigmented concealer it's usually 80% pigment and 20% base cream.. some concealers have pink/green tints to combat red pimples.. and dark scars :)
That's followed by foundation sticks..which are also pretty heavy-coverage..and then comes the colored powders. This is how heavy makeup is done.. thru "layering".. AB makeup is just a film of makeup thru which blemishes, raised bumps are still visible.
Thanks Gina that makes some sense now.
In the consultations that I've had locally with some very accomplished MUAs, I've come to understand that traditional makeup techniques are a much lighter and natural looking. Whereas, airbrush will give a more finished look. I've read on quite a few western bride forums where women complain that airbrush makeup looks like it is caked on when compared to traditional make up.
Thus, I am wondering if the layering technique you are referring to is utilized more with Pakistani brides, where a dramatic look is valued, versus in the states where traditional makeup is usually much more subtle. My MUA did use several shades and types of conceaer and foundation when applying my makeup, however the coverage was not as flawless as it was with airbrush makeup.
I guess what I'm getting at is this, in terms of coverage are Traditional Pakistani Make up Techniques > Airbrush > Traditional Western Techniques.
And finally, what sort of suggestions do you offer a western makeup artist when it comes to heavy coverage makeup? How do you achieve this look without it looking too caked on or like stage makeup?
Re: Bridal Makeup
check this link for info on AB makeup
Airbrush Makeup
Our skintone is actually very difficult to work with, due to acne scarring, pit-marks, under-eye circles. Desi skins require heavier coverage firstly due to our skin and secondly due to the norms and particular look they want for the wedding...
Airbrush makeup dries from creamy to matte and thus leaves u with the "cakey" feel.. I've used it several times for creative shoots, where heavy coverage wasn't required and it worked great, however on desi brides it looks really artificial and at the end I have to go over with a stick foundation!
Western bridal makeup is very light/subtle compared to our makeup, majority of them have little or no blemishes at all.. the only problems they have is blue veins, dark circles or freckles :) and that's easily covered by AB makeup.
A good makeup artist shud be able to correct/conceal all u're blemishes, and contour as well.. it's difficult to contour with AB makeup as well.
thnx, but i should of said Allenora in london…![]()
