So, i can not decide where to go for the bridal jora I bet most of you must have found yourself stuck in this crappy dilemma.
Starting with the mehendi, considering elan - i love the super flared net lehengas and the birdies/flowers and what not embroidered on the outfit. so totally my style and mehendi appropriate. So, here is the thing now, the pieces that I have seen are all in pastels and toned down shades. Has anyone seen her work in popping bright colors? OR if you have any other designer in mind, please please please kindly let me know.
Next is the reception. Planing on combining the baraat and the valima together phewwww one less jora to worry about. I need a lehenga choli look for it, want to go traditional. laal dulhan type but a hotter version lol. Have been considering bunto (emailed her - waiting for her response fingers crossed) and sabyasachi. I really can not decide who to go with really.
I have also been thinking about pairing my mums shahdi blouse and duppatah (drape it like a sari) with a new lehenga and a heavier duppatah for the head cover.
I prefer thread embroidery over the chamak chamak wala kaam..maybe crystal sprays and beads if I really stretch it…but at the same time i won’t mind a little added chamak - it my shahdi ka jora after all :?
I do not know what to do .. any thoughts-- suggestions?
Unfortunately not, but she has really close up pics on her website and the work looks really good. Also a lot of the 'people' on her FB page are wearing the designs but quite customised so it seems like they will be open to changing stuff.
Elan, other than their latest bridal collection, I have seen a few Elan brides and the kaam on those was nothing you can't get done elsehwhere and didn't justify the price.
Pastels with Kamdani work with a bit of pop color to it are in these days. Gola Ganda color lehenga like the ones u have shown are a bit last season (hint: check Hina butts mehndi outfit as something with so many colors isn’t in at all)
The use of floral and pastels has worked magic on the ramp (thanks to nomi ansari) lehengas this season have almost stepped into contoure mode.
Your mehndi lehenga should be elegant yet fun. I made a quick collage for your easy reference
P.s if you are not into florals, Mina hassans daughter Alisha is wearing a beautiful combo of pastel & bright pink in the right of this collage which makes her look pretty amazing for her mehndi!
Btw elan pic that u posted is very monotone in terms of its color, the use of pastels could have been better used with maybe a contrasting pop color..I feel for mehndi it’ll make u look washed out.
I could have suggested u Faiza talib or Faiza samee or a million other designers but everyone’s wearing them these days. If you have the money & the resources & would want to carry on a statement I would recommend go couture chic with a Desi twist
Hope it helps for mehndi, I shall send u wedding ideas as well
Ok so since you are combining the valima & bar at ( which is what I did) I would suggest not to go with the buntos & the haroons instead choose sabya. His work is mind boggling & his latest 2015 collection if nude color lehengas makes me want droll. Imagine a champagne color lehnega with loads of flair, kaam & work on it with a pretty Kamdani dupatta. Although ur lehenga would be expensive but it won’t scream ‘I’m expensive’ (which I feel bunto/haroons do a lot) instead it would be elegant and the dupatta would be the cherry on top along with some ethnic jwellery! I LOVED soha Ali khanjweller on her wedding sabya. Down playing it is in these days..
I feel ALL bunto outfits have become the same..same work..same colors..same designs almost..the red/purples/Golden’s are SO out of fashion for me at least. Every brides dress looks the same to me!
All this is purely my perception, so please dont mind anything said hope it helps though
