hey there ladies!!

so there’s this friend of mine who wants to get a set in 3-4 tolas or so but she doesn’t want it to be small so what she is looking for is a set that is comprised of a number of real stone strings and huge gold pendant (with or without stones). I think its a pretty good idea! so if you guys could post pictures of sets like that i’d really appreciate.

How about polki sets? There's less gold in them and they can be made from unpolished diamonds...which makes them cheaper...but they still look so beautiful. If your friend were to sell them in later on.....she won't get much money back....but there are some pieces of jewelry that are mean to be kept and passed on rather than sold.

i think you are misinformed, polki sets are far more expensive than regular gold sets. i have bought one for my wedding and i can tell you its bloody expensive. :(

Seems, I came back from Dubai last month and we did some jewelry shopping. The price of gold has skyrocketed....and I'm not saying that polki is cheap...but since it has less gold in it...it can be less expensive than a set that is mostly gold. Maybe our experiences were different.

but polki sets always demand huge making charges also it depends on the polki quality as well, the better the polki is the greater the price. in pakistan polki sets are not affordable even for some ppl who can afford gold.
i would really like to know some details of polki available in dubai?

^Seems, I asked my mom..and you're right. I've always heard that the less gold there is in something...the less you get back for it and I think that's what confused me. It's the stones that make it more expensive...and I'm guessing if you get one with unpolished diamonds it's less expensive...but what I find interesting is that I've heard from several jewelrs that when you sell it back...you hardly get anything for it. Not sure why though.

Yeah, i am also confused and wud appreciate some info on this.....

I went to Hanif jewelers in Lahore, near origa, they showed me a lot of sets with some very dull stones in them, and they were counting the weight of the stones with gold!!!

they showed me a set filled with zircons and told me that the zircon is second precious stone after diamond and it has more cuts than diamond therefore it is just as expensive as diamond... really??? but the worst part was it was for over 4 lacks!! it was filled with zircons
and only a little gold ( or i doubt it was even gold) to hold the stones together.

Then they told me that everwhere around the world the stone weight is included in gold weight, NO IT IS NOT IN HONG KONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

they showed me a set of gold with a lot of stones and told me it has 3.7 tola gold in it including the stone weight, and they told me it is for 3 lac but they will give me a discount and sell it to me for 2.4 lac.... then after negotiation they said ok 2 lac....

and i was like, yeah right, so 40k is worth nothing, realizing they are leaving no chances of ripping me off, i left...

on top of it, my visit to wedding asia the same day made me not want to get married :(((((

Do they try to rip everyone off or just the foreigner faces???

they try to rip everyone off but SPECIALLY the people with a hint of overseas. :(
i have bought some rings and a bracelet from hanif jewelers liberty branch, but all were in just gold like engraved wedding band etc. when i went there for bridal set i told him i wont buy like this so he told me he can charge me like normal with separate gold rate + stones and making charges. but still he was gonna give me huge making charges.
anyway i wanted diamond polki set and they dont keep it so i never bought any set. do not pay like this gold is freaking expensive dont buy any stone in gold price no matter what unless you want real diamond polki set.
