And they let you!! Imagine the horror on my husband's face when I suggested something similar. He insisted that I kept the piece because his mother wanted her bahu to have it. And I have to wear that to every other party we go to and my MIL proudly discloses that her bahu will always waer the set as it was chosen by her. :(
The idea of collecting a piece of gold every year is quite good and I think i should start doing it asap. thanks to everyone who suggested it.
Yeah and this way u get a huge variety! She bought me stuff from jaipur and bhopal when she was healthy but now she tells me everyday! "Thank God I bought it for u when I was well.."
It's a good idea to pick-up sumthing YOU blv u'd wear, she knows I don't like huge/gaudy things. Plus less burden when the time comes =)
And when THE time comes u're so sick of jewellery/clothes/shoes etc they all begin to look the same and u make silly choices!

This is my favorite set from the in laws they gave me on the mehendi day in addition to the kundan set. It is white gold with diamonds.This set is from sonajewelers and they have one on their website as well. (which is where i took the picture from sincei am not allowed to touch the real thing which is insane if u ask me)It looked like too much and too gaudy. I didn’t wear it yet because i don’t really like the pearly things coming out from the bottom and for my wedding i wanted to wear my grandma’s traditional hyderabadi choker set but oh boy is it gorgeous once you put it on-minus the pearly things lol The day after the wedding everything was put away into my locker and nobody let’s me touch them unless there is a very big event or something of that sort which upsets me because hey its my jewelry but inshaallah i am planning on wearing the kundan set for eid yaaaay

that is some set, desigirl!!! wow. i'll bet it looks gorgeous on. i think calls for a plain black chiffon sari with a plain blouse and just this set as your embellishment.
