Bridal hair. Review- Blues Bradford

I wear hijab, but the day of my nikah was an opportunity for me to show my hair as it was a very small event with just immediate family members.
My now husband has only ever seen me in jeans and trainers..so I really wanted my hair to be done to perfection.

Zara bridal had charged me 50 for JUST my make-up the hair trial was not included in this price. Other makeup artists had gone as far as put a bun on my head as . I was told this was the best style for me, but I wanted something special. Make up artists are not hairdressers so cannot style in the way hairdressers can.

I booked a trial with BLUES hair in Bradford. I felt I was taking a very big risk by not having my bridal hair done from a place that would not understand styles that look good with the chunni and tikka, and what styles are best with other hairpieces. Firstly I was not impressed when I was told that the lady doing my hair would not be doing the trial…but I didn’t feel I had any choice. It was a week before the nikah and I was unable to take any more time off work. The style I had done did not really suit the chunni with my bridal hair. Blues could not give me any advice so I was basically back to square one after my trial. Also the girl that tried to do the style I wanted was only 18. I had to tell her what to do with my hair to achieve the style I wanted. She struggled to do the style I wanted so I was in the salon for 2 hours!

I did get a chance to speak to the lady (Lucy) that was due to do the hair for me on the day and I instantly had a good feeling about her.

I had a confirmation call from Lucy the day before and I explained my style would have to change.

On the day Lucy said she had looked at lots of bridal videos and photos and had an idea of what would suit me. She worked with me and took her time to allow me to put the chunni on my head when the hair piece had been put in to ensure the hump bit was not too high. (I hate high humps!!!)

She styled the hair after I was happy with the chunni position and was giving me advice on what looked best. Bridal hair is her passion and even though I paid a little more for the hair on the day I feel it was worth it. I was able to make fresh wudhu read my prayers then put on my dress and apply my make up. Lucy waited for me then retouched up the hair then helped my sister to insert the tikka and chunni and set the front of the hair after the chunni was put on. She was at the house for over 2 hours.

I would definitely recommend Lucy@Blues even though there is no experience of tikka and chunni setting I think this will come with time. She had a natural talent for advising me on what looked nice based on styles she saw. Everything was in place and very very secure.

Lucy was there up to the point the hair was done and beyond this to the point when everything was put together. Thanks Lucy for all your help!!
