I am getting Married at the end of June and I want a Gharara but I cant find any shops in UK that have them!
I am not going to Pak so I cant have it made from there but does anyone know any tailors i can have it made from or send my design to Pak and have it made?
the lady i went to is rehana mirza. her number in karachi is 589 4194. how it works is you email her a picture of the design you want and she makes it for you. if you're extra particular about colors, send her fabric swatches so she can get your clothes dyed to match the swatches exactly- and also specify the kind of kaam you want. otherwise, she'll copy it from the pic depending on how clear it is. if its not clear, she'll use the kind of kaam she thinks is best. from my outfit, i know the quality of her kaam is great - very clean and neat - however, time might be an issue as her niece is getting married in july and she's super busy with her clothes and trousseau... but it doesn't hurt to call and find out!
chanda_kh is also getting her ghararas made from lahore, so you might want to check with her too :)
quality was excellent, price was reasonable (according to our budget anyway and also depends on how much kaam your outfit has), design turned out better than i expected BUT she was about two months late delivering it- still made it in time for my wedding but i could have done without the nerves waiting for it to arrive :P .... so order ahead of time. she gets really busy.
i can send you some pics of mine if you want to see.
i've heard the couple from indusmart.com also make good outfits with good kaam and prices. its a husband/wife team- they also send you sketches of your outfit alongwith fabric samples before they start creating it which is a bonus, IMHO.

can you recommend any names so it would be easier to locate?
I would if I could remember them!
Baically I used to go to Birmingham every week before I got married. Then moved up North after so go down pretty infrequently.
Went down last summaer for BIL's wedding and i was shocked at the amount of shops that have opened now!
The ones I remember are:
Handsworth - Soho Road: Pretty much opposite the Ambala sweet centre is a really good place with individual designs
Handsworth - Soho Road: Kirans - they'll do anythign and everything that they can to help find exactly waht you are looking for
Alum Rock Road - Go past Aziz textiles (on your left) and walk up the hill. On the left hand side there's a little arcade with a few shops in. Also on the opposite side to Aziz Textiles again uphill.
Ladypool Road - Where shall I start? There's loads here! Park up in one of the side streets or the little carpark halfway up Ladypool Road and alk up and down. PLUS there's an amazing store called Poze where you can get all your accesories to match!
Stratford Road - I haven't got a clue about the names of the stores but there's 2 really good ones before you get to the Barclays Bank
I hope that helps
Anyone else from Birmingham on here able to help out???
InshAllah gonna take a trip down next week, have so much shopping to do and im soooo stressed about my outfit!! Lets see what happens, illkeep you guys updated,
I went to London i didnt like anything, everything was sooooooooooooooooooooo tacky even stuff that was 2grand from places like daminis, chiffons, rdk etc...i only liked one shop on green st called yasmins, her stuff is amazing it gets made from lahore, one pieces......kaam on them is amazing but prices start from 3-4 grand!!!! I dont have that kind of budget, mine is 1500 so im trying to find something accordingly.
ladypool road opposite the supermarket
theres a shop beginning with"d"
i think its called dhanak not sure( but it had nice shararas in, not sure about ghararas(or if its teh same thing) neway mys sister went in and there was a gorgeous red and sea green combo one....but this was just heavy party wearish as in the dopatta was not heavy , but i'm sure if you ahve time he'll order it and he was a very pleasant man in there who isn't out to rip you off...
or try khushboos excellent service there where i'm sure they can customise a normal lehnga into a gharara..
just avoid lAAJ they are very unprofessional and unreliable!!
I notice that you say that you'll "go down" does that mean you're in the North?
If you are, you could try going to Preston and trying "Touchwood Boutique" on Deepdale Road - they are really good, professional and I am sure that they could find you what yo're looking for
There are some really good Pakistani shops in Birmingham that do the most amazing bridal wear. Try Ladypool Road, Alum Rock or Stratford Road
KHUSHBOOS BY CHAND LADYPOOL ROAD - AWFUL AWFUL SERVICE. LOST MY OUTFIT DAYS BEFORE MY WEDDING,
MANAGER SO RUDE, DIDNT EVEN APOLOGISE. ALSO NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY (WHICH IS USUALLY 75-100%!!)
THEY KEEP PHONE OFF THE HOOK OR DONT PICK UP IF IT DOES RING
BE WARNED, I WOULDNT RISK BUYING FROM HERE
