I need some guidance regarding my bridal dress as now I’m planning to design it myself.
First of all can someone please tell me some good shops in Islamabad to buy a good quality jamawar for bridal lehnga , and which stuff in jamawar category ( banarasi jamawar , chiffon jamawar etc etc ) will be best for it?.What is the price range? I read in another topic that “Kumkhwab” is the best fabric for bridal dress. Can I get it in Islamabad , and what is its price per meter? And how will I recognize that it is original ( Same is the case for other jam war fabrics too)? While searching kumkhawab on internet I came across its duplicate fabric “Himroo”, the shine looks good too regardless of the patterns. So if anyone knows any other similar stuff please share.
I need to know the name a specific kaam and a good Karigar/shop in Islamabad or pindi area who can do it .Below are the pics : ftp://C:\2.jpg
and lastly where to get original beads and pearls , i mean kundan stuff .. What are their prices and again how to recognize they are original or plastic copy?
Re: Bridal Fabric and kaam related Shops in Islamabad/Pindi
You can purchase fabric from Popular Saree on murree road. They have good quality fabric with all the variety. The price range from 500 per yard to 3000 per yard depending on the quality of fabric. Couldn't see the uploaded picture so not sure what exact fabric you are looking for but you can always send a private message and ask for details. Best of luck with your designing =)
Re: Bridal Fabric and kaam related Shops in Islamabad/Pindi
i have noticed that most people are using chiffon but i remain skeptical of it. I am more inclined towards a material called katan silk. Does anybody have an idea of it?
what was/is the fabric of your bridal dresses? do you recommend chiffon?
Re: Bridal Fabric and kaam related Shops in Islamabad/Pindi
cotton silk isnt new, gul ahmed etc have been using it since a few years for their summer clothes, but mybe the fabric has just entered the market commercially.
looks really nice n like silk but is it strong enough for kaam ?

The attached image isn't katan silk btw. You might want to check with your karigars if katan silk will be able to contain/manage any heavy work.
my sister got her bridal made on katan silk and very heavy kaam was done on it. it turned out very pretty.
for myself, i just posted the pic to determine the fabric. i dont intend to wear heavy kaam. i will wear something simple and elegant and something i can carry, InshaAllah.
Re: Bridal Fabric and kaam related Shops in Islamabad/Pindi
I've had work done on katan silk and it was okay....but then again it wasn't a bridal outfit.
I would consider gettting work done on banarsi fabric if you want something elegant with little work but still a rich look.
I've seen cotton silk and while it seems okay for party wear I wouldn't consider it for a bridal outfit. There is a sheen that is missing to it....
