Bridal Dress Fabric

How important is the fabric used for your bridal dress?

Past brides: what fabric were your bridal dresses made from and what did and didn’t you like about the fabric?

Future brides: what fabric do you prefer your dress to be made from?

Personally, my #1 concern is that I don’t want a fabric that’s “karak” or fluffy looking, cuz that’s going to make me look fat! I’m planning to get a farshi gharara with a long kameez, but don’t know what material would be best for it?

Also, I know the quality of the material makes a HUGE difference in $$. How important is the quality if you’re going to wear the dress only once in your life? I DO want the quality of my dress to be the best, however I’m not gona pay an extra $200-300 for a higher quality in fabric.
What are your thoughts on that?

Re: Bridal Dress Fabric

The fabric is THE MOST important part of the dress. Kaam can look incredibly tacky and disgusting on cheap fabric, and very nice on softer and higher quality fabrics. That's why you have to be careful when ordering online. if you're not picking the fabric yourself or are not working with a known and reputable designer, you have to make sure you have someone who can check out the fabric quality. The way the fabric falls, the way it takes color and kaam, all of that MAKES the outfit.

Yeah, your right. Hmm.. unfortunately, I don't know ANYTHING about good and bad fabrics. Do you have any suggestions? I'm gona go to paki next month...probably gona get my dress from somewhere like rim jhim, zardozi, jabeens.. what kind of fabrics do they use?
How can you tell if it has a good fall?
