Right , so the situation is my SIL’s wedding is the same day as my walima … her walima will be the next day.. would it be ok for me to wear my wedding lehenga on her walima?
PS : If I wear it , then i will take care that the jewellery I wear with it is light and I will not wear the dopatta on the head, so as not to ruin the actual brides special day …
why would u want to wear ur bridal outfit again, 2 days later? im sure u have so manynice clothes ur getting in ur bari/jahaiz that u want to show off ;) i would wear something else..since its a lot of the same people, wouldn't you want them to see you in something different..plus it'll look like you're trying to steal the attention from the actual bride..let her have her day too! i would definitely wear something else!.. save ur wedding outfit for another close family member's wedding down the road..
hmmm ... thats what my worry is ... I have heard there is alot of emphasis on the new bride to look heavily dressed for the first few days after the wedding ... and other then the bridal and the waleema dress I am choosing most dresses that are party dresses , medium heavy ... since i will be back in the UK and wont ever get to wear the most heavy clothes ....
So I am very confused, if I should wear a party dress for her walima or a slightly more heavy dress , that is a lehenga kind ...
i would say to go ahead and wear a heavy outfit.. after all, u are a "fresh" dulhan and u wont get many chances later to dress up that much... so take advantage..but just dont wear ur bridal outfit again.. after 2 days..it'll be boring
If this were to occur a few months or years later, i'd adivse u that wearing the lengha would be fine
but since this is like the day after, why not just wear something fancy/new?? The good thing about not-so-heavy dresses is that u can dress em up or down according to the occasion. if u get ur makeup/hair done and wear heavy jewelery, u can definitely look "bridal"
come on you've already would've had your bharat and walima. Let her enjoy her day too.
You can still dress up VERY fancily, with that "teesra din" wala look. But give the wedding dress a little break until it's someone's mehndi or something. :)

oops just saw this post after my previous post.
Either will look good. As someone said, just dress it up with jewellry and makeup and you'll look wonderful.
But yeah, don't wear your wedding dress

What say?
CB.........wear your bridal lehnga on another occasion. In my opinion it's too soon to repeat your wedding dress.
For your SIL's wedding............why don't you wear a pretty outfit that you have received from your MIL or from your own family as a wedding gift? You know how girls get a selection of fancy clothes when they get married? Well, just wear an outfit from among that selection.
And...........to make it stand out.........you could wear your wedding teeka!!!!!!! I've seen young girls wear a teeka to weddings and it looks nice. Wear a different outfit (sari, shalwar kameez, lehnga) for her wedding.

yeh i wouldnt suggest wearing the same bridal outfit the next day coz everyone would have seen it..but def wear in future on another wedidng...i had my brothers engagement 2 days after my walima and i wore my engagement lengha..however so many people had a go at me that i wasnt dressed heavy enuff....so ensure that whatever u wear..make sure its OTT to ensure the old ladies are happy!!!!
