Re: Bridal Dress - Best Places in Toronto, Missauga, Brampton, etc
So I visited Eastern Collections and Nadia Lakdawala this weekend :-) BOTH of them were worth the visit!
Eastern Collections, run by Saira is great for Bridal stuff. They also have Sherwanis and lots if high-end costume jewellery. I ended up getting 2 sets from her for $100 each.
I was looking for something muted for Eid and unfortunately the only outfits that would have been appropriate were out of my budget. BUT they were to die for. They were totally new designs, off-white pure chiffon A-line shirts with black lace/beading, crystal work, finished with velvet edges and rawsilk pants. Super duper stylish and totally something you'd see from a high-end designer like Umar Saeed. They were $350 and $450 each. I still dream about them...lol.
Nadia Lakdawala was great. She had about 20 samples of new and old designs. I have ordered from her in the past (while she was in Khi) and the experience was great. Her range was $175-350, we ended up ordering 3 outfits. Her stuff is more muted, nothing loud or crazy. HEr outfits are also very wearable and not limited to weddings. She does a lot of block printing and adds little details to her designs that would impress anyone who pays attention to that sort of thing. The outfit I ordred is very close the the designs Amber has up but mine has more detail and it was $225. She doesn't bargain. I should be getting the outfits before Eid so I'll let you guys know how they turn out and post pictures :-)

hey i went to see shazia habib at her place...her stuff is to die for! and she teamed up with nadia lakdawala....her prices were reasonable , she had a line kameez with pants, the kaftan style tops and some new designs as well. really high end stuff, from now on i only will buy from her. she's very nice too!

I got two of my lehngas from Saira over at eastern collections. I found the prices very reasonable and the has amazing fabric and does custom orderwork as well. Later on i bought two pishwaz from her for around 660. These had work done at the sleaves and the neck. I would highly recommend her but take somone with you who will haggle the price down.

It's a brand based in karachi. They sell casual/semi-formal outfits for economical prices. Their stuff is trendy and affordable. They are on FB as well so check them out.

So I went to see Nadia Lakdawala and Shazia Habib. I'd already seen Nadia's stuff so I was more interested in Shazia's stuff and it was pretty nice. Her style was very similar to the Resort Collection by SS. The fabrics were very flowy and the cuts were a-lines. She had quite a few peices and said she'll be getting more soon. My sister ended up getting one outfit.
Nadia'a stuff was good too...unforunately nothing fit my sister's budget and/or size...

Aunty and her DIL at Oriental Costumes are amazing!
We've known them since aunty started her business in her own home decades ago. I can recommend them without any hesitation at all.
Fatima aunty from Amira's is a personal friend of mine as well. You can tell her that Muzna sent you and you will receive special treatment/pricing for sure! I have no qualms about recommending her either.
I have been to Bombay Trendz and spoken with the couple that run the shop in Mississauga but haven't had the occasion to purchase anything from them as yet. The designs look really nice but they are pricey. You will have to do some hard negotiating/bargaining with them but if you are sure that you will buy then they will come down in price.
Thank you so much for the information it’s exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely go and see Oriental and Amiras Fashion along with some designs and see what they say.
Bombay I don’t know from the conversation I had it didn’t seem like they had what I was looking for.
The funny thing is that all the shops I called said the same thing,“We have the largest selection in Toronto”.
Re: Bridal Dress - Best Places in Toronto, Missauga, Brampton, etc
Oriental will have some unstitched pieces that they can make ready for you. The selection is of good quality but if you find 25 pieces then you are lucky.
Amira's will have maybe 2 or 3 wedding lehngas ready. They will have to order for you. While they do offer an express service for custom orders, I haven't had the good fortune of getting what I asked for in the first shot. So in a nutshell, considering you don't have much time for error, I wouldn't order from there. If they have a ready piece that you like, you will find the best price there. Especially if you mention my name to Fatima aunty and deal exclusively with her.
