what was your budget for your jahez, wedding and mehndi outfits and gold?
Re: bridal budget
My wedding and waleema lenghas were purchased by my in-laws, as was my bridal gold jewelry, so I don't know how much they cost. Gold is so expensive nowadays, which is why silver kaam on wedding outifts is so popular- so that you can get silver coordinating jewels and don't have to get gold. I know that is the reason why my waleema outfit was pink with silver kaam- so that there wouldn't be the burden of a second heavy gold set. I had no problem with that, my outfit was really, really beautiful, with crystals sparkling like crazy all over it.
So what my parents were in charge of were my jahez. We got all my clothes from Pakistan- which I suggest everyone does. You can get such nice things and it doesn't cost as much as buying outfits here in the states. I have 30 brand new outfits made. They ranged from everyday home-wear to formal party wear. Total cost came to about 50,000 rupees (At least if I remember correctly). I also got 4-5 party shoes from Pakistan that coordinated with my outfits.
Aside from clothes, my parents also got us all the basic house-wares. It came to about 1,300 dollars.
Re: bridal budget
50k for 30suits are awesome!! where did you do your shopping from?
Re: bridal budget
i think it was 500k
Re: bridal budget

Nowadays, heavy formal wear can cost Rs. 50k for one outfit.
Re: bridal budget
50 k for one outfit cost for designer label , if we buy from local markets, it will not cost that much..

thats not true i have seen stuff their in much lesser rate and its all about bargaining. though i didn't get anything from there as i think the quality is quiet low plus i didn't like anything. went there just to explore. btw i am talking about anarkali not ichra.
we even saw a bridal in 15k it was on display and just out of curiosity my mum asked the price and he said 15k my mum was so shocked she asked thrice and the third time the shopkeeper said "baji one five sifar sifar sifar dein dein mein abhi pack kar deta houn" lol
Re: bridal budget
^ I don;t know what was the last time you went there.... I went to ichra just 3 month ago, and explored almost all shops, the dresses with less kaam start from 18k, but with LESS kaam, and by less i literally mean LESS=useless.
anything nicer starts from 25k above, they don;t really bargain these days, max they'll give you a 500-1000 off. the dresses with a little kaam on the back is even more expensive.
I wonder how you'd manage to find a 15k BRIDAL!!!! i bought 3 sarees from anarkali a year ago, each one costed me 8k and those weren;t even too heavy.
I'm sure the salesman knew you guys aren;t going to buy it, they are sarcastic and frustrated most of the times, for God knows whatever reason.
Re: bridal budget
50k for 30 outfits is impossible! Just plain silk cloth without any embellishments or stitching costs up to 6-7k.

did u get all yr clothes stitched or have left unstitched as well ?
Re: bridal budget
This is absolutely impossible. Designer clothes we arent even talking about, but minimum decent kaam wala jora for formal wear is at the very least 13K. Im going as low as can be gone here!
Re: bridal budget
5,00,000/30 = 16000+rs which is okay for one formal suit
Re: bridal budget
^yeh, but she's saying 50,000 not 500,000! I agree with Demesne about 13K for a decent kaam wala jora and that's probably ready made where you can bargain.
