Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has been charged with dissent following an incident on day one of the third Test against South Africa.
Lee was reported by match umpires Aleem Dar and Billy Bowden for “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by action or verbal abuse”.
In the 27th over, Lee had a heated exchange with Dar after an lbw decision against Jaques Kallis was rejected.
Lee will attend a hearing following Tuesday’s play. Australian captain Ricky Ponting will also attend along with team manager Steve Bernard.

Aussie Lee gets dissent reprimand
Australia paceman Brett Lee has been reprimanded after being found guilty of showing dissent on day one of the third Test against South Africa in Sydney.
Lee, 29, had a heated discussion with umpire Aleem Dar after an lbw appeal against Jaques Kallis was turned down.
**At the end of the 27th over, the bowler followed Dar and was heard asking the Pakistani official: “Why is it not out, I’m asking for a reason?”
Dar replied: “Please, it’s not out, not out, that’s all.”**
Lee, who was led away by wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist, was later reported by Dar and fellow umpire Billy Bowden for breaching level 1.3 of the International Cricket Council code of conduct.
The player could have been fined 50% of his match fee for “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by action or verbal abuse” but match referee Chris Broad decided to impose the minimum penalty.
Australia were criticised for the number of appeals they made in the second Test in Melbourne last week.
Broad had indicated it was bordering on the excessive but coach John Buchanan insists the Aussies are within their rights to ask the question when they believe a batsman is out.
“What we’re trying to do out there is gain an umpire’s approval when the players think there’s a wicket,” he said.

Re: Brett Lee charged with dissent
minimum penalty, surprise surprise
Re: Brett Lee charged with dissent
Batsman was NOT out and the decision was correct by Aleem Dar.
Brett Lee was very rude to Aleem and showed repeated dissent by asking him why was LBW not given. He asked at least three times. I bet he would not have done the same to an Australian or English umpire.
I am so glad Aleem reported it to match ref.
Re: Brett Lee charged with dissent
This Chris Broad dude is so blatantly biased and racist. He has a history of giving maximum penalty to south-asian players but reserves minimum for goras. he has been doing it for so long,it amazes me nothing is done by ICC.
Re: Brett Lee charged with dissent
says it all, if our chicken officials won't complain then the ICC officials won't get any signals for (bad) umpiring/refereeing (?) hence wouldn't bother even thinking about a change.
Re: Brett Lee charged with dissent
Looking at the larger picture, world cricket is divided into 2 camps with Australia,England,SA and West-indies in one and all the rest in the other. the gora camp (with WI support) always tried to keep ind-pak-SL out of power in ICC, until the time Dalmiya became ICC president. Prejudiced ICC officials are just an offshoot of this tussle.why only broad, list is long with the likes of mike deness, even Clive Lloyd has been known to hand token punishments to aussie-english players, reserving his worst for sub-continent

And they say racism has ended.
