Deobandis are not against tasawuf, you are right there, but they also do not practice it like Brelvis. Deobandis respect all geat awliya and some of them also follow path of tasawuff but majority of ordinary deobandis and many of their scholars do not. But nearly all brelvis are mureeds of some pir/sheikh.
Need? i dunno, they have evolved and deveopled into two schools of thought within hanafis.
Not that i agree wiht Barelvis, but Deobandis are by definition more violent and promote violence. Financed by the petrodollars for the past few decades it has come to prominence in promoting a hateful wahabi ideology and is the chief driving force behind Taliban and suicide bombing.

Again, another myth. Can you back up that claim of "wahabi" infiltration into the Deobandi school other than hearsay? That is just irony at best. Deobandis take the middle path in everything. The Deobandis have been at the forefront ever since they fought the British (where other groups of Muslims departed) they were one of the first to fight the British. They are believers of fighting oppression whereas other groups shy away from Jihad or even call it a foreign concept (may Allah save us). Maybe that is why you get the impression that they are "violent".
Let me tell you this much, though there was difference of opinion on the creation of Pakistan even among Deobandis, that side of Deobandis which called for an Islamic sate (pakistan) were at work day and night to establish such a state. Without their influence of words and fight, you would have a much weaker Pakistan than it is today or not one at all. Look back in the history books, how Allama Iqbal praises the work of Deobandis and other leaders were side by side with them. Alhamdulillah. All groups of this ummah have a hand in both uniting and splitting. We should take the good and leave the bad.

Regarding the Taliban, let's not go into more politics but I'd say this much, the original movement of Taliban in Afghanistan was indeed following of Deoband school and Alhamdulillah, they accomplished more than all the world powers could ever accomplish. It is only later on that there have been others within who try to create fitna. But, Alhamdulillah, there are still among the Taliban who are on the right path. Note: TTP and other groups in Pakistan who say they linked with Taliban movement in Afghanistan are all liars and hypocrites. Go to the source to learn what the movement is about.

Deobandis and brelvis existed long before oil was ever discovered in gulf. Deobandis are not very fond of wahabis either.
