breech position of the baby

hello,
I am back again after a while, well I am doing just fine, feel quite normal and am feeling quite active lately also, but I have a question about breech position of the baby! I am in the 34 th week and this monday my doctor told me that the baby is in breech postion, head up or sidewards I think.. I am told to come back next monday for a scan and a check up!
Well I want to try everything possible for the baby to take the actual birth postion so that a c-section will not be necessary. I tried some exercises at home. I have heard that I should walk a lot?! Can anyone tell me anymore tips so that a normal delivery is possible for the baby?

Re: breech position of the baby

Saadia I have heard that babies just naturally turns when it's time and yes walking is an excellent idea , it does help. hope everything turns out fine .

I didnt know you were expecting , congrats :)

Re: breech position of the baby

thanks mehroo .. hope you are doing well :) yes long time no see ..

well the baby turns normally in the 30 th week as later it gets big to be able to move position, well in some cases it happens late, it can still happen in the 40 the week. I am going for a tour of my hospital later today, well hope to get more information there .. as there is the method of moxibustion..and it can still be done with hand pressure in some cases later on..

Re: breech position of the baby

achaa ? I thought it was around 35th week , I dont know much about it as i had no problems durning pregnancy and had normal deliveries.
hope everything is fine .let us know when you are back from hospital .

Re: breech position of the baby

Depends on many factors. I can write a response if you like.

(But if you are a “badtameez bacha” like a few I have seen here, I’ll not write anything).

Re: breech position of the baby

Dear Saadia,

Mostly the baby will turns before the 37th week and then there is no complication. I have heard that there is an homeopatic medicine for it, you can consult an homeopath for it.

God bless you.

Re: breech position of the baby

Saadia congratulations with your pregnancy, may Allah give you a fine healthy baby, insha Allah. :)

I've also heard, as some have already stated that the baby often is in the good position when the time is right. You can talk to your doctor about it and ask for more information.

When I was in my last month of both my children, my Mom made me take long walks, I had to drink milk with badams in it, I remember sitting with my feet up and having a pillow under my feet while I would be sleeping.

You can start playing games with your baby too, heehee, when you are relaxing, put your hand on one spot on your tummy, the baby will move to your hand. Then replace your hand on the other side and the baby will go to that side.

Talking to the baby and listening extra to talawat is good, the baby can already hear you. :)

Good luck.

Re: breech position of the baby

Sadia congratz on coming thus far with your pregnancy. Isn't it so exciting, you will be having your baby in your arms in just a few more weeks!! I do not know anything on chaging the baby's position but have heard that the baby can even change position up till the time of delivery so don't worry inshallah things should be ok and yes walk a lot.

I was told to walk a lot to during the last month of my pregnancy but due to extreme tiredness I didn't walk much and my delivery was still a piece of cake!

and do post pics of your baby when he/she arrives.

Re: breech position of the baby

Up until the 37th week (+/- a few days), the baby is in breech position. It turns to norm position after this for delivery. Some of the breech positions can also end up as vaginal delivery by an expert gynecologist.

Dont worry much, you've got some time there. Inshallah all will go well.

Re: breech position of the baby

I've heard that massaging the tummy gently helps the baby move to the right position...

Re: breech position of the baby

I just hope he/she doesn’t come bfore time …yes babies do turn to normal positions at right time (mostly) but what if the baby (my lil darling) decides to come in 32nd week n that too laying horizontally! Ouch!!!

wish u luck saadia!
i dunno how to change positions …but i was advised for walks n going up n down the stairs only when we already were tired of waiting!

Re: breech position of the baby

Don't worry Saadia....you still have time. The baby may still turn on it's own.
I've heard of some doctors who do a procedure at delivery time if the baby is still breech. Look it up and ask your doctor about it.

Waiting for good news!

Re: breech position of the baby

I love how people ask such serious questions on this forum instead of consulting their actual doctor...

Re: breech position of the baby

^ she is consulting her doctor as she has already mentioned. she is just inquiring about some personal experiences any guppan may have had with this.

congrats saadiaB.

Re: breech position of the baby

Thanks so much for so many positive responses :) This thursday I went for a tour of my hospital and had a chance to talk to doctors and midwives, all were very comforting, luckily my hospital has some experiences with deliveries with breech position, they do about 100 such deliveries in a year and mostly try to avoid c-section, if the baby isnt in danger, so all should go well insahallah.

aahmad, I have consulted my doctor, I have talked to midwives and specialists, suroor is right, I was just asking for some personal experiences.

Neera, yes I am excited, I can not think of anything else than my baby, I am allways thinking am I doing everything that I can for the arrival of the baby, I even dream about my baby .. glad to hear that your delivery was a piece of cake, I mostly hear other accounts of how hard and painful it can be.

Sadya, milk I have to force myself to drink warm milk once in a while, as about moving, baby is quite active :-)

Thanks everyone else for the encouragment, tomorrow I am at my doc again, wish me luck and pray for that everything goes well when the time is there.

Re: breech position of the baby

how come you dont want to have caesarian section?

Ive heard caesarian section babies are more intelligent because there is no pressure put on the head during birth. and it is quiet true actually…one of my aunty had all her kids by c-section and they are all masha-allah extra clever.

sometimes the doctors try to turn the baby around themselves…Ive heard thats a very horrible experience so If I was you I wouldnt have that done.

Re: breech position of the baby

I have heard that a normal birth is much better for baby and mother than a c-section. I am reading a book bya midwife and she tells the advantages of natural birth. C-Section should only be if a normal birth is not possible (for many reasons) after a normal birth the mother is in her normal condition more faster than a caesarian, where a recovery takes much longer. Dont know about the intelligent factor,

Re: breech position of the baby

saadia...when are you due?

Re: breech position of the baby

Just wanted to post, it was a relief this monday to find out that the baby has actually changed postions by itself ..now everything is alright thanks God .. I am happy and am now looking forward to the delivery and being pampered at the hospital ... :-) :)

Hinna, in around about 5 weeks ..
