Re: breastfeeding

This can happen sometimes...but over time, it DOES even out - the supply adjusts to the demand if you know what I mean. If you start pumping it out, your body will produce even more. But if you deal with it for a few days (up to like 5 days), the production will slow down. Then it will increase again when your baby starts to drink more. Hang in there, it isnt easy but its really the best thing :) bless your little one!!

Re: breastfeeding

Simply consult your doctor/nurse. You can use a breast pump and pump and put in fridge for feedings. Or if its that much extra just dump it, so you can be at ease.

agreed

Buy a big box of nursing pads, they are great in situations like that.
How old is your baby? This happens initially when the supply hasn't fully established, so don't worry about it.
But do NOT pump,as that will increase the m.supply.

Edited to add: Try going kellymom.com. they've got alot of useful information and tips..I found it helpful when I was a new mom.

Re: breastfeeding

Really good advice. I agree with Mama of three.
Another thing I wanted to add was if its the beginning ..make sure you donot miss a feeding(for examle if you decide to give a bottle to the baby instead of his/her breastfeeding…at that time make sure you pump as that can lead to a breast infection which can be very painful)
Also try keeping in touch with a Lactation Consultant. Many hospitals have a lactation center on premises.Talking to them on phone is usally free. They are a really good support to have if you decide to breastfeed exclusively.
Here is an informative website for more information on common problems.

Re: breastfeeding

Do they have Lactation consultants readily available in Pak. For some reason, it seems as if the poster is in Pak. Otherwise most hospitals in the US, after birth, Lactation Consultant/Nurse guides you with breast feeding right away.

Re: breastfeeding

ok I may not be a “dear sister”

but have you ever heard of Nursing Pads (click here)

Re: breastfeeding

i also agree with mamaof3, also how old is the baby, this usually only happens in like the first month until breast feeding is established, i totally breastfed y son n i had this problem but it eventually settled once we got into a routine, it will take time so remain patient, good luck

my baby is three months old now but i still have this problem

Re: breastfeeding

You can do one more thing and see if it helps. Cut down your liquids (water or juice etc) it'll help and put your baby on schedule, feed him/her 3hrs.
