Re: breast pumps and video monitors
Some of the pumps Im looking at:
Medala Harmony Manual
Medala Swing Electric
Lansinoh Manual
Monitors:
Safety 1st Genesis
Summer Infant Baby Touch Screen
Motorola
Infant Optics
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
I had the medela harmony! It was a pain to use and took so long … go for an electric instead. After a few times of using it I gave up and bought the pump in style electric pump instead.
Amazon.com: Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump w/ Backpack: Baby
Saves so much time! Has double pumps so you can do both sides at the same time. Loved it!!!
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
^ yep i have hw medela pump in style and it was the best money ever spent.
We didnt get the video monitor so dont know much about it.
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
I have used Medela pump in style. My milk supply did not establish until 6 weeks or so, I started using it at 3 weeks and was frustrated at only one ounce coming. After a week of frustration, I stopped, started using again around 6-7 weeks and had great success. We did not get any video monitors.
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
There is a website called lucieslist.com and she does reviews about baby products. She has reviews and recommendations for breast pumps and monitors. I found it very helpful, as I am quite overwhelmed right now :s
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
Haha I totally misinterpreted the title of this thread…thought that someone wanted to use a breast pump in front of a video monitor. Eek!
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
Thanks for the feedback and also for the link to Lucie’s List, very helpful!
I just found this too:
Best Breast Pumps | Top Picks and Reviews at ConsumerSearch
http://www.consumersearch.com/breast-pumps/how-to-buy-a-breast-pump
It names Harmony as the best manual, Swing as best single electric and Pump in Style as best double electric. Im not going to be pumping several times a day or at work, so I dont need something as advanced at the Pump in Style, for occasional use I think either a single electric or even a good manual should be be fine. Just pouring over the reviews and reading what everyone has to say
Harmony

Swing

Lansinoh

Re: breast pumps and video monitors
I have used Lansinoh double electric pump. Its half the price of Medela pump in style.
I tried using manual pump but it was too much work.
I bought the pump 4 years ago with my first born, used it for about a year and then used it again with my second child. So far it has not given me any problem. I pump twice at workplace and with the double electric, it never took me more than 15 minutes to fully empty the breasts. As my supply went low, I only had to pump once and that took about 5 to 7 mins.
Single pump will take twice the time.
Keep in mind that if you are working, the less frequent you pump , the lower your supply will become.
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
i tried the medela hand pump and it didnt really work for me so i purchased the medela pump in style and loved it!
i also tried the medela lactina hospital grade pump as a rental from the hospital for the first 6 weeks and it was great! it has more power, really easy to use and clean up and takes less time to pump since the suction and action is so powerful. i really would have loved to purchase this instead of the pump in style, but it costs over $1000..whereas the pump in style was about 1/3 that price.

Re: breast pumps and video monitors
if ure a housewife, is a breast pump necessary? iam due in march and thinking whether to invest in a pump right now..
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
^ Depends. If you plan to breastfeed exclusively and dont pump, then basically you need to make sure you are there for every feeding. I want to breastfeed for the most part, but still want to pump so my husband can help with feedings, especially at night, and also for any times when we go out and leave the baby at home
Re: breast pumps and video monitors
I use:
D-Link DCS-932L Wireless N Day/Night Home Network Camera | Staples®
I can access it from my phone and other electronic devices. And I can also access it on the rare occasions where we go out without the kids. It requires a good wireless connection.
