okay soo i saw this woman breast feeding in the store.. luckily it wasnt that crowded… it was really awkward.. i know its natural and people might think its a beautiful thing to feed baby n stuff.. lekin in public??? it wud’ve been more embarassing if the store was crowded or my brother or dad wud have been with me at the time.
what r ur thoughts on that? how do u feel about it.
p.s women with kids here.. wud u breast feed ur kids in the public place?

No i would not let my wife do it in public. It is practiced in pakistan but not in any great extant and certainly not among educated middle class families.
I don't see anything wrong with a mother discretely breast feeding an infant in a public area as long as she is not showing too much. I mean I have seen it in Pakistan and usually women try to do it in a secluded area but in situations where it becomes necessary to feed in public, they would cover themselves with some kind of chaadder or cloth. I think in such instance we the public should be a little more sensitive and not stare at her. She is doing it out of necessity.
Suroor, trust me this is nothing compared to what I once witnessed in a Toronto public restroom. Usually men take a pee at the urinals that don’t have covered stalls around it ( i am explaining this since men’s bathrooms are different compared to women’s). Anyway, men usually just unzip the fly and do it. But this one guy did the “double pass drop”. He had both his pants and underwear down to his ankles and standing there butt naked steering his into the urinal. At first, i got but then I couldn’t hold my laughter and had to take refuge in an empty stall. Now, that is some public display!.
I am assuming women's bathrooms won't be equipped with standing urinals. But anything is possible with you Canucks. So I better not assume. I just can't picture it. But come to think of it, it can be a turn on for some men.
I saw a woman breast feeding her baby at the mall the other day. She was sitting by the fountain in the middle of the mall, not even attempting to display an ounce of modesty. It was very awkward. I don't think it should be done in public.

but i had to go through soooo many troubles just because of that .....n then for second one i didn't even want to think about anything but breast feed :)
in start i felt too embarrassed when i had to do this in public ...but you can do anything when ur lil one is hungary n crying constantly ....so i had no choice but to feed him
but well i can tell you ....i tried my best to cover it .....as i wear a viel ...so it would be funny to cover ur face n let others ammuse otherwise :)
Carry a shawl with you at all times. Its not so hard to cover. There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public so as long as you are properly covered.
Women do it in pakistan all the time. Its just that the baby is tucked away under a "chaddar".
Here a woman tried to breastfeed her baby in a public pool. When ppl stopped her (because the baby might swallow water and get sick), she wanted to sue the council. Go figure.

well personally I don’t know if it’s appropriate or not for women to breastfeed in public because I haven’t been in their shoes…I think for most of them it’s a ‘majboori’…was that woman desi?? I think all desi women cover themselves with chaadar when they do it in public.
