So which do you give your baby - breast or formula?? I was adament about using breast milk only before my baby was born, but with a bad experience of my baby crying for nearly 6 hours and breastfeeding him in between, it completely put me off breastfeeding and I have since then started to formula feed.
I feel guilty, as I know that breast is best, but I just cant seem to carry it on. I do try and express every now and again, but dont get much as obviously my supply has reduced due to me stopping breast feeding…
So what are your experienes???

If you formula feed, which one do you use and why??
I was always afraid I had a low supply (but I think the issue was more that my milk came in late. I used to nurse her and then offer her formula. However, that used to make each feeding take FOREVER and according to the doctor it aggravated her reflux. So I switched to doing some feedings as nursings and 2-3 bottle feedings a day. I also pumped at night (so I was able to do some of those bottle feeds with my milk).
She is now 9.5 months. I am still nursing and supplement with a little formula. She only drinks 2-3 ounces of formula at a time, so the doc thinks she probably gets most of what she needs from me. I will probably start the weaning process is a couple months.

Breastfeeding is hard, some people are naturals at it... some like me have to struggle.
I had 2 weeks of tough time, but I kept at it and didn't give up even though my daughter needed to be nursed every 2 hours...... throughout the day AND night.
I succesfully nursed her for 18 months MashaAllah, without any need for formula though I did start cow's milk when she turned 14 months. Nursing was reduced to only 2 times a day (once in the morning and once at night) since she was on solids and cow's milk and I weaned her at 18 months without any issues.

I gave breast milk to my daughter for 2 months and I used to pump it. My daughter being very low birth weight was not in a position & was allowed by the dr to suck on her own . After 2 months the milk dried because of two reasons 1. my daughter was not sucking 2. I was under extreme stress. I felt bad about the fact I was not able to breast feed my daughters but my mom made me feel worse. For her it was injustice to her nawasi , she used to get angry on me sometimes for taking so much of stress not trying hard enough. She believed that eating zeera etc will increase the milk supply but it did not help.
When my daughter was in NICU she was given both breast milk and premature formula so from the very beginning she was on both.
I have always give enfa to my daughter because that's the brand hospital used and highly recommended.
When my daughter was in hospital ward there was a woman who was so adamant on giving breast milk to her son that she never let the nurse give him formula milk. She did not have enough milk supply but she would still try to breast feed him the poor baby often used to cry with hunger. Nurse used to get angry on her for not giving her formula. I believe it should not be this way , what is the use to keeping your baby hungry ? formula or breast milk either of it a baby should get !
I would love to commit to just breastfeeding, reality is though it's not for everyone. I have bought an electric pump and inshallah hope to use both formula and breast. My MW says it can be done successfully, and often works out for women as it's less stressful than full on breastfeeding.
