Breaking the Covenant 5:12-14

Shakir: And with those who say, We are Christians, We made a covenant, but they neglected a portion of what they were reminded of, therefore We excited among them enmity and hatred to the day of resurrection; and Allah will inform them of what they did.

Question: I understand the Jews breaking the covenant, but don’t understand the covenant broken by Christians. Can someone shed some light on the covenant broken by Christians that warranted 5:14.

12.Indeed Allâh took the covenant from the Children of Israel (Jews), and We appointed twelve leaders among them. And Allâh said: “I am with you if you perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât) and give Zakât and believe in My Messengers; honour and assist them, and lend to Allâh a good loan. Verily, I will remit your sins and admit you to Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise). But if any of you after this, disbelieved, he has indeed gone astray from the Straight Path.”
13. So because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard. They change the words from their (right) places and have abandoned a good part of the Message that was sent to them.] And you will not cease to discover deceit in them, except a few of them. But forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds). Verily, Allâh loves AlMuhsinûn (gooddoers - see V.2:112).
14. And from those who call themselves Christians, We took their covenant, but they have abandoned a good part of the Message that was sent to them***.] So We planted amongst them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection (when they discarded Allâh’s Book, disobeyed Allâh’s Messengers and His Orders and transgressed beyond bounds in Allâh’s disobedience)***, and Allâh will inform them of what they used to do.

There you go my brother. I have highlighted the reason of the “covenant broken by christians”. By the way I have also listed 5:12-14.

I see what you mean but what did they break in the covenent. I nother words the Jews killed the calf, lamb whatever. They complained about food, they complained about prayers. So I understand why Allah (swt) will be upset, but what did the Xtians break? What good par of the message did they disobey?

Look, every johhny come laterly religion needs to establish it's relevancy by declaring the previous iterations as old editions. Christians did it to the Jews, Muslims ot christians and Jews. Nothing new...been going on for years.

But thats debatable, since the greek orthodoxy or egyptian orthodoxy dont believe in some aspect of trinity. But I see your point.

FYI I think it has something to do with Holy Father, Holy Spirit and Son of Mary vs Son of God. I don't remember which orthodoxy. Words do mean I guess.
