breaking out after threading

every time i get threaded in the salon, chin, sideburns, i break out the day after!

if there something i can do to avoid this?

Re: breaking out after threading

Apply aloe vera gel? Or vaseline?

Re: breaking out after threading

aloe vera gel helps

cleanse your face really well and apply toner...you'll see less breakouts.

Re: breaking out after threading

apply vaseline it hereally helps

Re: breaking out after threading

I have the same problem. Vaseline makes me break out more as I already have an oily skin :bummer:.

Re: breaking out after threading

make sure to cleanse your face properly after you have threading. and make sure to cleanse your face before you do threading as well.

Re: breaking out after threading

I have the same problem. I can only get brows and upper lip threaded. All other facial areas break out. I just stopped threading my face. During special occassions I use Nair (yes on my face and no it has never been an issue).

Re: breaking out after threading

apply tea tree oil right after threading.or take an anti allergy tab prior to threading,if you are getting from salon then check out the hygiene issue may be where they are placing their threads that is not clean.

Re: breaking out after threading

anyone know where you can buy aloe vera gel in toronto and also what brand is the best one to buy

Re: breaking out after threading

If you have oily skin make sure you wash your face thoroughly and apply aloe vera

You could just buy a plant and do what they’ve described in the link above. Or you could check at the pharmacy/Chinese supermarkets/nutrition stores. (Source: Google.)

Re: breaking out after threading

When you thread, you're doing 2 things... you're irritating the hair follicle and you're exposing it to lots of bacteria. Cleanse your face with an anti-bacterial wipe before you get your threading done and once you are done dab-on chilled rosewater. This will calm your skin and help seal the pores as well. Anything harsh that contains salicylic acid or alcohol will irritate it furthur.

You may also apply an over-the-counter antibiotic cream.

Re: breaking out after threading

Does the girl who threads it where gloves?

I ended up breaking out when I went to a place when the lady didn't wear gloves and the other place was called Eyebrow Masters they are required to wear them so I tried it, have gone twice and Mashallah no breakouts so far.

Re: breaking out after threading

I dont think the whole gloves deal matters too much. Everyones skin is diff and some ppl have absolutely no reaction to threading, while others get breakouts, bumps, redness, etc…

I just so happen to be one who gets all the later! Bumps, lots of redness, inflammation, breakouts..you name it! I have very soft and sensitive skin. I thread my cheecks, and thats mostly where I get the reaction. Eyebrows dont react. Just burn a bit for a day.

Okay so here is what I have..I came across a cream that helps with all of that! Its a bit pricey, but only bc it does exactly what it says. Its perfect for the reactions we get after threading. Its called Cool, Calm and Corrected by Dermadoctor.

I got my threading done today and my cheeks were red as ever, with bumps and a never ending burning sensation. I went to sephora, which is where i came across this and brought some home as a sample to try it out. For a few days after threading my skin is untouchable, if touched it burns extremely! But i came home and applied this cream and my skin was calm in a matter of an hour. The redness, almost, if not completely, gone! The bumps are under control, and by that i mean they are not escalating to becoming bigger and redder, which they would have by now regularly, and not to mention my skin is touchable..and its just the day of having gotten the threading done!!

So its expensive. $85 for the jar, but the jar will last you about 6 months. I think this is something im going to invest in. Its not something for daily wear, I will only have to use it couple of times every other week when I go to have my threading done. So im sure it will last me a very long time.

Re: breaking out after threading

OOOoo interesting thread.

Re: breaking out after threading

and i thought the gloves made a difference. So do eyebrows that are done thin make a person look older? So what shapes look nice with a oval face?

Re: breaking out after threading

I used to work at a threading salon for a few years, and let me tell you for all those who think gloves are worn to help prevent bacteria spreading or whatnot..its all shenanigans. heres the real truth WHY we wore gloves...bc the thread would CUT OUR FINGERS from threading all day! so customers would wonder why we wore gloves, and so this is what we would tell them..'its helps prevent any bacteria from spreading and irritating your skin, maam!'

Re: breaking out after threading

As zaibaish has mentioned - tea tree oil. You just need a drop or two (pref diulated ttoil) on some cotton wool and wipe it over the threaded areas.

Then, rather than aloe vera, apply some witch hazel gel. This will cool the area and help healing. It work pretty much the same as the dermadoctor stuff razzmatazz suggested but at a fraction of the cost.

Maybe apply ttoil once more before you sleep and the witch hazel as much as you like.
