Breaking or getting rid of your televisions

Re: Breaking or getting rid of your televisions

Well, what do you have to say about computers and internet? There are much worse things online than there are on TV. Atleast with the basic television channels the shows aren't too graphic, and everything's suggestive. Online it's all there, available at one click. Mistype a web address and you either find out how to make meth, or get to some weird fetish website. At the same time, all your news media, all your shows, all your weird music videos and music is available online. And half the time you don't know what your kids are watching because it's so easy to close the window and clean the cache. And shouldn't all those weird rays coming off the computer screen damage the eyes as well (a theory which has been disproven many times where it concerns the TV). Therefore shouldn't the argument extend to the wide world of the web as well?

Absolutely right but by the time children start using internet (unsupervised)they should be atleast in their teens and then your basic education of morality (given by parents) should kick in. And on top of it you have filter programs available in the market.

I think there are a lot of studys that have proven that violence on TV has lead to aggression. Does anyone remember the James Bulger case in 1993? This was a prime example!

Nevertheless, there are advantages with TV, such as news broadcasting, debating shows, sports, educational programmes!

Its just about controlling what kids watch these days!
