Re: BREAKING NEWS: Sindh AG resigns
According to BBC
Shareef ud Din Peerzada has refused to represent the Government against the Chief Justice (that sounds very interesting since he always bails out dictators, may be he has sensed something coming)
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Sindh AG resigns
symk, do u have direct link to the story? I cant find it on BBC news website.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Sindh AG resigns
umm the news of his resignation first came at 2:00 PM. No one from the govt. corrected the media. Media reported that the AG has been summoned to Islamabad. Anyhoo, at 8:00PM i was watching Capital Talk on Geo and Hamid Mir asked Law Minister why has Sindh AG resigned and in his usual tone minister replied your info is wrong. He hasn’t resigned. He has been fired. and that I got this news at 2:00PM.
So Hamid called up Info. Minister to ask why Sindh AG has been fired and he says..neither has he been fired, nor has he resigned…interesting..Why did it take some 6 hours to deny it ![]()

Sindh AG ‘changes his mind about resignation’
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, March 15: Sindh Advocate-General Anwar Mansoor Khan on Thursday changed his mind about resigning in protest against the ‘confinement’ of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, leaving media organisations which had received his resignation letter slightly bewildered.
The province’s top law officer insisted that the letter had been faxed to newspaper offices by mistake.
He refused to be drawn on what caused the sudden change of heart.
“The original is with me in Islamabad where I am at the moment. The letter was never submitted to the Sindh governor. So, there is no question of my resigning and then subsequently withdrawing my resignation,” Mr Khan told Dawn.
Sources, however, told Dawn that the resignation letter had been delivered by hand to the Sindh governor at around 12.15pm.
The letter says: “With a very (heavy) heart, and having no complaints with yourself and the Government of Sindh, where I selflessly served for over 4 years, I, for the reasons, that the Hon’ble Chief Justice continues to be in confinement, despite the overwhelming demand for his release, tender my resignation.
“Your Honour, I have during my tenure, attempted to give the true perspect of law and do all what I could, to protect the Government of Sindh. Despite this resignation, I shall be available, should the Government require my services in any manner whatsoever.”
I think we can safely assume why he “changed” his mind.
