Good news for him and his family (who have been through a lot)
But this seems so fishy to me
Mumtaz Qadri is hanged and within a week Mr. Taseer is recovered
So the kidnappers fed him and gave him shelter for almost 5 years and then released him just like that!!
We need more details. Was any ransom paid to the kidnappers? Who were the kidnappers? What was their motive behind all this? Will we ever find out the truth?

I was watching a program on TV and they were linking his kidnappers to the same people who attacked Karachi airport a few years ago.

Could it be that Shahbaz was already recovered before Qadri was hanged? His life would have been in serious danger if he was still captivated by them

Very very happy for him. I remember, as an outsider, when I heard of the Gov. being assassinated, I spent so much time reading about the family and saw many pics of Shahbaz's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding. I was shocked he was kidnapped and never understood what was going on. I asked someone visiting from Pakistan who moves in the same circles as the Taseer family about it and was told he was being held by a group they were negotiating and Aamna Taseer had been able to meet with Shahbaz over the years.
I just never understood how Maheen was out dressed up in expensive Elan couture all the time. I understand she had to live her life but Would not Shahbaz's captors frown on this?

The Taseer Story (so far): “Kidnapped and stayed for three days in Lahore. Moved by Motorway, unconscious. Taken to North Waziristan by ETIM, all Uzbeks. Survived drone attack. After being displaced by Zarb e Azb, the Uzbeks took him to Zabul in Afghanistan. Then, ETIM merged with Daish. TTA (Afghan Taliban) fought with Daish and killed all their men and women / they also killed themselves with suicidal jackets. Taseer escaped the melee and was taken over by TTA while making his way. Later, they kept him and arranged his crossover to Balochistan via Chaman and till Kuchlak. He was tortured ruthlessly by Daish/Uzbeks. But he had life, a lot of it. He contacted his mother who then informed intelligence. That’s when they took over.”

finally, the picture is becoming clearer (if it's true)
Kamran Khan of Dunya News reports that AfGhan Taliban attacked the hideouts of their opponents and during the melee Shahbaz Taseer escaped and then Talibans brought him to Kuchlak and dropped him off at a roadside dhaba.
he was kept in Quetta for the first 2.5 years his confinement and then he was taken to AfGhanistan. Shahbaz Taseer also said that he miraculously escaped the American Drone attack.

I too have been reading about the taseer family, back when their father was murdered. A beautiful family, yes a bit modern for the pakistani people but at least they didnt hide behind purdah and did all wrong things but were open about it and so far it was not as if they were killing people, they just liked to dress openely and have expensive taste. I read about his Maheen, she wrote on FB, or somewhere, that the first 3 years, she did not go outside, but afterwards she started her business and was doing some things. So she was not in expensive couture all time, there is a picture of he in front of Mekka, her posts are so sad and all she writes about in FB and Twitter is about her husband...I also wondered if she pictures would 'upset' her captors, but I guess she didnt want to be a hypocrate and show a pic which she is not... so good for her. I am so happy he is back home!!

It seems as if he has been released on payment of ransom. Another theory is that afghan Taliban got him freed from daesh.
