Pakistan says US conducted operation
Updated at: 1255 PST, Monday, May 02, 2011
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday confirmed the death of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in an “intelligence-driven military operation” conducted by the US army, in the early hours at Abbottabad.
A statement from the Foreign Office said the most wanted terrorist mastermind was killed in an operation “conducted by the US forces in accordance with declared US policy that Osama bin Ladin will be eliminated in a direct action by the US forces, wherever found in the world.”
The Foreign Office termed it “a major setback to terrorist organizations around the world.” The statement said President Obama telephoned President Zardari on the successful US operation which resulted in killing of Osama bin Ladin.
Osama bin Ladin’s death illustrates the resolve of the international community including Pakistan to fight and eliminate terrorism.
The Foreign Office statement said al-Qaeda had declared war on Pakistan. Scores of Al-Qaeda sponsored terrorist attacks resulted in deaths of thousands of innocent Pakistani men, women and children.
Almost, 30,000 Pakistani civilians lost their lives in terrorist attacks in the last few years. More than 5,000 Pakistani security and armed forces officials have been martyred in Pakistan’s campaign against Al-Qaeda, other terrorist organizations and affiliates.
Seems Pakistan Army was in on the Operation to Kill Osama bin Laden in Thanda Choha!
An army helicopter was shot down early Monday morning in Abbotabad city where Al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden was killed, a media report said.
A private TV channel quoted sources as saying that the chopper crashed on PMA Kakul road in the early hours of Monday.
One person was killed and two injured in the incident.
Media reports did not indicate whether the helicopter was gunned down during a special operation to kill Osama bin Laden.
Eyewitnesses said heavy firing was heard before the helicopter fell.
An eyewitness Zulfiqar Ali told BBC that prior to the army operation in the Thanda Choha area the locals were told by the Pakistan army to turn off all lights in their homes and not to step out and the whole area was surrounded by security forces.
He told that after the army offensive he heard a loud explosion after which firing started. He told that he saw a fiery helicopter falling down outside a mansion. He told that he also saw two helicopter hovering over the mansion, which was spread out on 3 to 4 acre of land and had high walls and barbed wires.
He told that he heard the sound of cries of children and women from the mansion.
He told that the mansion was built by a Pukhtoon 10 to 12 years back and no one knew who lived here.
It is not known how many people were aboard the chopper which is reportedly capable of carrying eight to 10 people.

This news and many like this does show that Afterall it was not American forces only which took part in the operation
Re: Seems Pakistan Army was in on the Operation to Kill Osama bin Laden in Thanda Cho
That is something I have been wondering. The Americans say they had no losses while one helicopter was shot down, so who are those people who died in the helicopter? It is highly unlikely that people inside the helicopter would have survived if it was shot down. also last night while this thing was in its early stages and there was no indication that Osama had been killed GEO was announcing that their correspondents cant get anywhere close to the incident as the security forces have cordoned off the area. So was it just the Americans or was Pakistani security forces involved as well? Maybe the Pakistani security forces do not want to own it for fear of reprisals by suicide bombers
Re: Seems Pakistan Army was in on the Operation to Kill Osama bin Laden in Thanda Cho
It's clear that Pakistan army was kept in loop and probably American helicopters flew from some PAkistani airbase. Abbotabad is not some border town that two American hellicopters could just fly to in minutes without being detected/intercepted. There are also reports that Pakistani & US governments were "discussing" the situation for a week before the operation took place.

Osama was living in Abbotabad ![]()

Re: Seems Pakistan Army was in on the Operation to Kill Osama bin Laden in Thanda Cho

Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead
so let me ask this. After raymond davis got caught and it turned out that there were hundreds of raymonds looking for the terrorist king why did he not move out of his hide out.
i mean it was only matter of time before they got him by his bowls.

The latest news from the US is that one helicopter had a technical malfunction and was destroyed by american soldiers before leaving the ground, as opposed to being shot down with fatalities on board.
Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead
It's interesting the leaders of the whole world are conducting press conferences and taking their people on board but where he was killed there's chill, no ones bothering to take the nation in confidence

^^ Thats because they are in bed with PML-Q , they just got married with them yesterday and was having Suhaag Raat when all the fire-work took place... they might have not been told about it yet...
Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead
That's good news for Pakistan as well. Bad news for kharijs.
Obama said that the operation included help from Pakistan intelligence. Need to gather more information.
Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead
Nice to hear that.
Re: Breaking News!!!! Osama Bin Laden is dead
I dont care where he was....I just want my country back...My people have been the biggest collateral damage in WOT
WOT was the result of terrorism from Osama and his Talibanic cronies. It is they who are more responsible for this collateral damage rather than Americans.
So if we want to save our people and our country then we need to unite against intolerance, sectarianism, and terrorism espoused by those fanatics.
