True .. in most cases … but I believe he was led up the garden path many times. He came across as clever and powerful, but I do not believe it was all his fault - He thought like a cornered tiger - a military man. The decision made in politics are of a different nature he was misled I think.

Oh yes it was his fault. He over threw elected govt & even now he was not leaving, but had no choice.

But the air of self-sacrifice imbued in Mr. Musharraf’s address would seem to clash with the apparent deal-making behind it. Sources in the Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-N – the two main factions of the ruling coalition – tell the newspaper Dawn that they were only delaying the impeachment process to give mediators more time to persuade Mr. Musharraf to go. A senior coalition official tells The Wall Street Journal that the final negotiating knot to unravel was the timing of any immunity granted to the president. Mr. Musharraf wanted the immunity before resigning; coalition officials feared that once immune from the impeachment charges he wouldn’t depart, the New York Times adds. Another important factor, according to Dawn’s sources, was the Army’s opposition to the use of impeachment to oust the president, even as the military – still perhaps the most important institution of power in the country – decided to stay neutral in the fight.
