we're not going to get anywhere when the very foundation of cricket in Pakistan suffers at the hands of these out-of-control-ego executives. We've encountered a host of problems just because execs and players can't set aside their egos for the greater good of the game and the country.
As an organization, PCB needs to get its act together and come up with job descriptions before designating roles and assignments... and they need to revamp their culture where seniority trumps performance. Until these issues are resolved, we're gonna hafta live with the daily soap opera that is Pakistan Cricket.
It is easy to blame Miandad here but I feel it is PCB's faulty entirely for not having specified his exact role beforehand. As Pakistan's greatest batsman ever (certainly IMO) Miandad deserves more respect. He's perfectly within his rights to resign if in his opinion the job was nothing more than 'time pass'
I do agree that its PCB's fault. Even though Miandad has made a habit of resigning, before being giving the fancy title of Director of PCB, they should have defined the role of that position.
Although I dont see any reason why he couldnt work with the Pakistani cricket in the domestic level. Anyways, he has the right to chose what he wants to be involved with & what his interests are.
OK, it may be PCB's fault for not defining his exact role; why did the big mouth accept the job offer in the first place.
Next time you get the offer of becoming regional manager from Ford or production manager from Dell, don't except it and demand clear responsibilities writeup :)
Although Miandad is a big mouth but I dont know who is at the back of Saleem Altaf. This guy seems to be pangay baaz under all administrations and no one has been able to get rid off him be it Nasim Ashraf be it Butt uncle or anyone else. Apparently Miandad resigned due to clash with him. In fact Salim Altaf was not even in PCB when Miandad was offered the job but then Salim Altaf's "parchi" worked :)
One of the reason he quit is because he didn’t think Younis should be made captain. Thank God be quit.
Problem with PCB officials is they want full authority over everything. Don’t question them and they’ll be alright. They all want to do things their way. Bunch of
Mr Javed will no serve as a cricket ambassador to China. He has been apponted directly by the great and visionary President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr Asif Ali Barbadi.
